Lorraine shares huge Celebrity Gogglebox announcement as Strictly duo join line-up
Strictly Come Dancing fans have something unexpected to look forward to this week, as two of the show’s most popular professionals swap the ballroom for the sofa in a surprise television appearance.
Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu are set to make their Celebrity Gogglebox debut on Friday night, with the pair promising plenty of honest opinions, laughs and unfiltered reactions as they watch some of the week’s biggest television moments together.
The exciting announcement was revealed live on ITV’s Lorraine, where host Lorraine Kelly introduced the news during her entertainment round-up with Ross King.
Ross praised both dancers, describing Amy as an inspiration and highlighting Carlos’ memorable Strictly triumph alongside Karen Carney last season before confirming the pair would be joining the latest celebrity edition of the hit Channel 4 series.
According to Ross, the pairing feels like a natural fit because the two friends already spend plenty of time watching television together away from the cameras.
A preview clip offered viewers a glimpse of their chemistry, with Amy explaining that she enjoys watching TV with Carlos because of his honesty. Carlos agreed, admitting they happily comment on everything and are “brutally honest” with each other while relaxing in front of the television.
Amy also joked that Carlos sometimes arrives with good snacks, although not always, leading to more playful banter between the pair.
The food discussion continued as they tucked into mini pretzels, sweet and salty popcorn and fresh melon during filming. At one point Amy encouraged Carlos to try chocolate-covered pretzels, only for him to refuse, insisting they contained too much sugar and joking that sugar makes people look older.
Away from the snacks, the duo revealed they both enjoy settling down with a good drama and were excited to share their genuine reactions with viewers.
Reflecting on the experience, Amy described filming Celebrity Gogglebox as a refreshing change from life on the dance floor. She said it had been a treat to simply sit back, laugh and enjoy television while spending quality time with Carlos.
Carlos was equally enthusiastic, saying he loved every minute of the experience and admitted he never hides his emotions while watching television. He added that appearing on the programme felt like hosting their own little party on the sofa.
The special appearance gives Strictly fans another chance to see two of the BBC show’s most popular professionals together, this time without sequins, judges’ scores or the pressure of the ballroom, just plenty of laughs and candid television commentary.
