Princess Diana’s brother, Earl Charles Spencer, has publicly apologized to Piers Morgan over his new book’s claims, but the TV broadcaster doesn’t accept it
Charles, Earl Spencer has been forced to issue a formal apology to Piers Morgan after acknowledging a mistake in his explosive new book about his late sister, Diana, Princess of Wales.
The Earl’s contentious new work, Swan Song, has sparked fury among royal supporters following numerous shocking claims against Royal Family members, including King Charles.
A spokesperson for Earl Spencer confirmed the apology in a statement. “Mr Morgan was surely annoyed when Earl Spencer called personally to tell him that he was not welcome at his sister’s funeral,” the spokesperson said.
This follows Piers threatening legal action against Earl Spencer over the book’s assertions.
Piers has since broken his silence after Earl Spencer’s apology, admitting he will still sue.

He wrote on X: “BREAKING NEWS: Earl Spencer has apologised to me for his defamatory lies published in his new book, Swan Song, published today.
“But I am pursuing legal action against him and his publisher Penguin to have the lies removed, and damages paid to the King’s Trust.”
The statement also indicated that Spencer’s book had recorded his own assumption that Morgan’s irritable reaction stemmed from guilt over the gym photographs, believing him to have been the editor at the time of their publication.

The spokesperson then explained that Morgan had not joined the Mirror Group until two years later.
The statement continued, “As an historian, accuracy is important to Earl Spencer. He therefore wishes to clarify that his assumption was incorrect. Earl Spencer apologises to Mr Morgan for this error.”, reports the Express.
Piers criticized Spencer during the latest installment of his Piers Morgan Uncensored YouTube program, revealing his plans to take legal action.
He contended the publication contained numerous factual errors, “which will strike to the heart of [Lord Spencer’s] credibility.”
Morgan also asserted he maintained a more intimate relationship with Diana than the Earl understood, revealing he had lunch with her and Prince William at Kensington Palace during his tenure as Daily Mirror editor.
He stated, “After that, it wasn’t uncommon for her to call my office or for me to run stories by her.”
Morgan noted that Spencer was residing in South Africa and had become distant from his sister at the time of her passing, asserting, “Ironically, by that time in her life, I think I was probably talking to her more often than he was.”
The broadcaster then delivered a pointed warning to Spencer and the book’s publishers, insisting the contested section be deleted.
Now, mere hours after Piers publicly acknowledged the mistake, Spencer responded with a freshly released statement.

Earl Spencer’s newest book has officially hit shelves, mere days after the Daily Mail ran an excerpt from the publication.
The book contains multiple allegations aimed at King Charles, including a reported comment that the world will “forget [Diana] soon enough” made shortly following her tragic death in 1997.
