A Coronation Street star has announced she’s expecting her first child in a sweet social media post. Melissa Johns, who played Imogen Pascoe on the soap between 2017 and 2019, struggled to contain her excitement as she shared the happy news with her online followers.
The 35-year-old actress and disability activist documented the news on the beach with her husband as they both lovingly cradled her already blossoming baby bump. The soon-to-be parents were seen hugging one another on the sandy shores with the water behind them as Melissa dazzled in an orange and red floral dress.

Melissa and her husband Dan shared a glimpse of the ultrasound scan of their baby alongside a pair of booties and a knitted stuffed toy, alongside a mirror which had “Baby H-J, 2025…” written on it, as they were seen posing in the reflection.

Captioning her post, she penned: “Oh baby. We made a wish and it came true… Baby H-J – we can’t wait to meet you. Forever grateful.” Her post which has been liked hundreds of times was flooded with celebratory messages.
“Congratulations both,” said one social media user. A second added: “So beyond excited for you both.” “Eeeep!! Congratulations,” gushed a third. Meanwhile, a fourth excited fan typed: “Congratulations! Welcome to the mummy club! So excited for you.” Theatre star Amy Forrest exclaimed: “Congratulations!!” alongside a red heart emoji.
Speaking about her pregnancy, Melissa said: “We live in a world that still questions whether disabled people deserve love, sex, and family, it’s time to shift that lens.”

The actress, who is set to reprise her role as Miss Scott in Grantchester, went on to add: “We rarely see pregnant actors in work, but it’s entirely possible with the right approach, and I want others to know that. It’s exactly the same as the access we’ve been fighting when it comes to disability. It’s about access and adjustments.”
Melissa and Dan’s happy news comes less than a year after the couple married in a stunning ceremony. Speaking after her wedding, Melissa said: “I know it sounds really weird, but what I mean is, I just feel absolutely wonderful.

The beautiful ceremony took place against the stunning backdrop of the 14th-century Brinsop Court Manor House and Barn on 11 October, a day Melissa describes as “perfect”. The bride looked radiant in a strapless fishtail gown with a fitted corset and bead embellishments, while her groom, a transport planning consultant, looked dapper in a three-piece tweed suit and paisley tie.
Melissa, who was born without half of her right arm, shared the profound significance of saying “I Do”. “Because of having one arm and looking very different to other people growing up, when I was young, I wasn’t necessarily sure getting married was something that would happen for me,” Melissa said.
“People do comment on it and question whether you’ll find love or get married, simply because of the way you look or because you’re disabled. So, because of the way I grew up, our special day meant a million times more to me.”
