GMA Host Michael Strahan moves audiences with his daughter Isabella’s emotional c@ncer battle – and the Heartbreaking Reason she had to preserve her fertility at just 19. A revelation that left fans stunned and speechless.
MICHAEL STRAHAN has opened up on the heartbreaking story behind his daughter’s battle with c@ncer and having her eggs frozen.
The Fox NFL Sunday star’s daughter, Isabella, underwent three major surgeries for a brain tumour at the age of 19 before going into remission in late 2023.

But before her surgery, Isabella revealed how she had her eggs frozen following a recommendation from her doctor due to c@ncer treatments sometimes affecting fertility.
Speaking to People last January, she said: “Since chemo and radiation can affect my fertility, my first step was egg freezing. That was not fun for me. At all.
“I am not a big needle person … I’ve gotten used to my blood and IVs, but shots? That was rough.”
And a year on in a follow-up interview, she has now opened up on her journey.
Isabella said: “After my initial surgery that was on October 27th, I went for rehab I think about the beginning of November.
“I headed to New York and I had my egg retrieval on Thanksgiving last year.
“I think my doctor definitely recommended it because it was just the safest and smartest thing to do.
“I didn’t love the process, it was definitely not fun.”
Talking about his daughter’s injections, Strahan added: “The doctor definitely recommended it (getting the injections) just to be safe.
“And they let her know it’s not like you can’t impregnate the old-fashioned way but this is just a way to ensure you have your eggs and have children in the future it’s a possibility.

“As a parent, I was like, ‘Fertility treatment? She’s 19 years old. What are we talking about here egg retrieval.’
“But I’m glad she did it I think it gave her more peace of mind.
“And yeah there were definitely a lot of things that shocked all of us that you realize you go through like some of us never thought we would ever experience.
“But unfortunately we had to and unfortunately a lot of other people have to as well.”
Speaking about Isabella’s overall recovery from the critical operation, he added: “[Isabella] was thin and tired and bald and all the things you hate to see your kid go through. But her spirit was there.
“One of the things she said, probably the hardest thing I had to hear was, ‘Dad I’ll do whatever. I want to live.’
“Isabella’s strength and resilience was the same as it was when she was a little girl.
“The way she handled every day with grace was amazing.
“I knew she wouldn’t quit. She was going to fight — and she did.”
