Fury Erupts as Michael Fabricant Becomes First Celebrity Booted from Big Brother House
Celebrity Big Brother kicked off its latest series with fireworks—and fans were left seething after former Tory MP Michael Fabricant became the first contestant evicted from the house during Friday night’s episode.
The 74-year-old politician was put up for public elimination alongside actor Mickey Rourke, 72, and Coronation Street star Jack P. Shepherd, 37, following nominations from their fellow housemates.
After the results were revealed, Michael said a warm goodbye to his castmates and exited the house clutching his beloved teddy bear. Greeted by a mix of cheers and boos from the crowd, he joined presenters AJ Odudu and Will Best outside.
But viewers were quick to take to social media to voice their frustration at the decision—especially as Mickey has already sparked controversy in the house. Many branded the Hollywood actor a “homophobe” after he made an offensive comment toward 21-year-old JoJo Siwa, suggesting he could “make her straight” and referring to her with a slur. Meanwhile, Jack was labeled “dull” by fans who felt Michael had far more entertainment value.
“So they kept a homophobe in and sent Michael home? Wild choice,” wrote one viewer on X (formerly Twitter).
“Didn’t think I’d ever root for a Tory, but here we are,” another commented. “At least he brought something to the house.”
Fans Demand Action After Mickey Rourke’s Behavior Escalates
Tensions in the house reached a boiling point earlier in the week when Mickey made inappropriate and deeply offensive remarks toward JoJo, who identifies as part of the LGBTQ+ community. In a shocking moment, he told Chris Hughes that he planned to “vote the lesbian out” and later used a homophobic slur while gesturing toward JoJo.
The Dance Moms alum was left visibly shaken and retreated in tears. Chris stepped in to defend her, calling out Mickey’s behavior.
Viewers quickly rallied behind JoJo, hailing her strength and grace in the face of bigotry.
“JoJo Siwa is a queen. She’s handled Mickey’s disgusting behavior better than most adults would.”
“She’s the people’s princess now. I hope she wins the whole thing.”
More Backlash Over Mickey’s Conduct—This Time Toward Patsy Palmer
As if his comments toward JoJo weren’t enough, Mickey also came under fire for a rude and dismissive jab at actress Patsy Palmer. While the group was enjoying a meal she had lovingly prepared, the actor blurted out, “What do you know, you can’t cook.”
Though Patsy initially laughed, she later broke down in the Diary Room, visibly upset.
“I don’t want my kids to see me not standing up for myself,” she told Big Brother tearfully. “Maybe it was a joke, but it didn’t feel like one.”
Social media erupted again, slamming Mickey’s behavior as not only rude but borderline bullying.
“You don’t insult someone’s cooking in front of a group of people—especially someone as iconic as Patsy Palmer.”
“Mickey hasn’t lifted a finger in the kitchen, but has the nerve to criticize? Get him out.”
Even Fellow Celebs Are Speaking Out
Chesney Hawkes, observing the drama from within the house, praised JoJo’s maturity in dealing with Mickey’s offensive remarks. Speaking in the Diary Room, the “One and Only” singer shared how the situation hit close to home.
“JoJo’s the same age as my daughter, who’s also LGBTQ+. I was so proud of how she handled it. She reminded me of my own child.”
Despite the drama, Chesney admitted he still finds Mickey an interesting figure: “He clearly doesn’t care what anyone thinks, but there’s a strange innocence in him too. You want to dig deeper and see if there’s more behind the gruff persona.”
Fans Still Outraged as Mickey Stays
As the first eviction wrapped up, fans were stunned to see Mickey remain in the house. Some called for immediate action from producers.
“Big Brother needs to step in. This is beyond ‘edgy TV.’ It’s just toxic now.”
“JoJo and Chris for the final two, hands down. They’ve shown nothing but class.”
With just days into the season, the drama has already reached boiling point, and all eyes are on what Big Brother—and the public—will do next.
