Meghan Markle has frequently been called “demanding,” and Opinion Writer Giles Sheldrick believes she’s just as ambitious when it comes to her home.
She writes that upscale estate agents in the Cotswolds are becoming well acquainted with the very specific needs and requirements of the Duchess of Sussex.
The 45-year-old former actress, who relocated to California with Prince Harry in 2020, has returned to the UK. Sheldrick states that sources believe she has grand ambitions, which present something of a challenge, accommodation-wise. This comes as it was revealed that Meghan Markle wants one thing in her UK home to be same as her Montecito mansion.
The mother-of-two, who already owns a substantial estate in Montecito, is reportedly insisting on at least 9 bedrooms as she takes charge of the property search. And that’s not all.
A film studio is also reportedly among the lengthy list of requirements, as she intends to continue operating her As Ever brand from the UK, despite it currently not shipping to Britain.

Sheldrick believes that her demands are unlikely to win much sympathy or support from a public that has grown weary of the couple since they stepped back from royal life and headed off to California.
Despite stepping back from their royal duties and weathering a string of failed business ventures and departing aides, the couple is far from financially stretched, the opinion writer says, with the Sussexes reportedly working with a “gargantuan budget” in their property search.

There is certainly no cost-of-living crisis for this family, not with a $8.38 million vacation home in Portugal already in their portfolio. Soon, it could be a trio of luxury properties.
One source told Sheldrick that Meghan “won’t be able to resist building a film studio at their new home” and will ultimately be “home making content” once she has settled in, noting “that is the heart of who she is”.
Regarding Harry, it’s believed he wanted his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, to attend an institution with an “outdoorsy and sporting ethos” and to reside in a residence with substantial land.

The writer states that this is why the Cotswolds region meets all requirements, with several properties that meet the specific specifications, predominantly large Victorian houses or farmhouses.
Since returning to the UK with their tails between their legs last week, the Sussexes have faced a chilly reception from a public that remains puzzled by their approach and infuriated by the treatment of the Royal Family, especially King Charles, through a series of dramatic exits.
It was reported earlier this month that Meghan was hoping to return to acting in the Netflix series The Gentlemen, created by Guy Ritchie.
Interestingly, Meghan ranks as the 14th most popular member of the Royal Family (ahead of Princess Beatrice and her mother, Sarah Ferguson) and the 80th most popular public figure. Only time will tell whether the Duchess of Sussex can win over the British public.
