BREAKS SILENCE: Vernon Kay weighs in on Jeremy Clarkson and Chris Packham row

Vernon Kay has shared his support for Chris Packham, days after the broadcaster became embroiled in a public row with Jeremy Clarkson over Clarkson’s Farm.
The BBC Radio 2 presenter praised the conservationist during Wednesday’s breakfast show while discussing Mr Packham’s new BBC Two documentary, Evolution.

Mr Kay revealed he had recently watched the series alongside Paddy McGuinness ahead of an upcoming episode of Celebrity Gogglebox, where the pair appear together.
Giving his verdict, Mr Kay told listeners: “It’s cracking. It’s a great show. Chris Packham – one of the best, isn’t he?”
He continued: “He talks about where we all stem from, and one cell is the key to all life. Fascinating. It’s worth a watch.
“Paddy and I were like, ‘Get out – no way!'”

Joking about the programme’s exploration of evolution, Mr Kay added: “I couldn’t believe I was related to him, I’ll be honest with you. We’re all related to each other.”
His comments come after Mr Packham found himself at the centre of a heated exchange with Jeremy Clarkson over Clarkson’s Farm.
During a recent episode of Celebrity Gogglebox, the wildlife presenter criticised the Amazon Prime series, arguing that its opening scenes painted an unrealistic picture of modern farming.
He said the picturesque opening credits were “not what a farm looks like”, adding that many farms are “horrible monocultures which have been sprayed with deadly chemicals” and where livestock are kept “indoors in crates”.
Clarkson hit back in his column for The Sun, dismissing the comments as “b****s”** and pointing out that Mr Packham had previously visited Diddly Squat Farm in 2012 for birdwatching and foraging.
He wrote: “The endlessly angry Chris Packham went on Gogglebox this week and erupted in blind fury about the Winnie the Pooh-ish opening credits to my farming programme.”
The debate has also drawn in Clarkson’s Farm star Harriet Cowan, who urged Mr Packham to “research your facts” before criticising British farmers in a video shared
