Janet Street Porter compares herself to Aimee Lou Wood amid cruel MOCKING of her teeth – admitting backlash ‘REALLY HITS HOME’ as she rips into her White Lotus co-star Walton Goggins

Janet Street Porter has admitted the backlash around Aimee Lou Wood’s Saturday Night Live impression has ‘really hit home’ as she ripped into her White Lotus co-star Walton Goggins on Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women.

The sketch comedy has come under scrutiny after a recent ‘mean’ sketch that mocked the S3x Education star’s teeth.

Actress and comedian Sarah Sherman wore huge prosthetic teeth while parodying Aimee in a White Lotus sketch for the American show.

It has got a lot of people talking, including the Loose Women ladies, and Janet opened up about how she feels about it all after being mocked by Kenny Everett and Spitting Image.

Janet said: ‘Looking at that sketch, I can see exactly why Amiee Lou loathed it. The way it probably, the same reason why I got so upset when Kenny Everett and Panelsa Stevenosn impersonated me.

‘I took part in that sketch at the time, in early 70s, because I wanted to be thought a  good sport, I thought it was bad for my career if I didn’t take part in it.

‘I thought everybody would say “She’s an opinionated journalist, she dishes it out, but she can’t take it.”

‘But I felt the sketch about me was just about my accent and teeth and my glasses, and it kind of reinforced the idea I was a bit thick.

‘I think that’s the reason, because Aimee Lou, if you look at that sketch, she’s stupid in it. That’s what really hit home.

‘If you’ve watched White Lotus, I’m not a big fan of the show, I’ve watched her in it, I’ve watched a couple of episodes, she’s the star of the show, she’s very engaging and the bloke who plays her love interest or whatever, is like a big hole of nothing-ness on the screen.

‘He apparently loved the sketch with mocking Aimee Lou… well he would wouldn’t he? Because he’s got his moment of stardom.

‘So what I think about her sketch, I understand why she’s upset, but she’s different to me, she’s spoken out. I didn’t say anything.

‘At the time I moaned to my partner, I moaned to my friend, I felt really, really upset and then when Spitting Image did the puppets of me, again, I didn’t really moan about it.’

They then showed a picture of the puppet to viewers, and Janet revealed that it didn’t upset her as much because she thought that Spitting Image was show ‘written by clever people’.

But she thought that Kenny Everett’s script was ‘rubbish’.

Peter Fluck, co-creator of Spitting Image later admitted that Janet’s puppet went ‘too far’ and ‘it wasn’t funny’ – which Janet agreed with.

In the Saturday Night Live sketch, named The White Potus, it imagined the Trump family and various political figures on holiday at the famous retreat.

Walton Goggins’ character Rick was reimagined as Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who was seen on a rambling rant debating they take ‘all the fluoride out of the water’.

The camera then cut to Aimee’s character Chelsea – played by Sarah – with exaggerated buck teeth, who exclaimed: ‘Fluoride? What’s that?’

In response to being mocked on the show, Aimee took to her Instagram Story to slam SNL and address rumors about HBO.

‘Whilst in honest mode – I did find the SNL thing mean and unfunny,’ she told her followers.

Earlier, she clarified that ‘nobody at HBO called her ugly.’

‘That was my own paranoid thought’ she explained, referring to a recent interview, which she says was misconstrued.

The star continued: ‘Nobody at HBO would say that. My point in the article was about how our mind plays tricks on us. Please read carefully before getting angry for me.’

‘So to conclude today’s rant: @hbo – kind and supportive and never wronged me so leave them alone. @nbcsnl – mean.’

But on Sunday her co-star Walton Goggins, 53 – who plays Rick Hatchett in the show, shared a since-deleted post to his Instagram Stories praising the skit.

He raved that the sketch was a ‘SMASHING’ success, and he included a message for Jon Hamm, who appeared in the sketch as Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

‘Jon I knew I was miscast,’ he wrote to the Mad Men star, who imbued the vaccine-skeptic politician with some of his White Lotus character Rick’s personality.

He went so far as to also comment ‘Hahahahahhahaha Amazzzingggg’ on the official SNL Instagram account, according to Page Six.

Yesterday it was reporter that Saturday Night Live have reportedly issued an apology to Aimee.

And the likes of British A-listers Cara Delevingne, Jameela Jamil and Georgia May Jagger have rushed to defend the star.
