Gogglebox favorites Jenny Newby and Lee Riley have confirmed they are heading back to viewers’ screens, delighting fans with the news that the hit Channel 4 series is returning this week.
The Hull-based duo, who first joined Gogglebox in 2014, shared the update in typically playful fashion on Instagram after months away from the show.
Jenny and Lee were last seen on the program earlier this year before the previous series wrapped in May. On Tuesday, September 1, they finally revealed when viewers could expect to see them again.
Posting a humorous video to their joint Instagram account, the pair confirmed that Gogglebox will return on Friday, September 4 at 9pm on Channel 4.
“And we are back, sorry to you all,” they joked in the caption, before promising “laughter, tears, and some great TV to watch.”
“Join us this Friday 4th September 9 pm, Channel 4.”
Fans Rush to Welcome Them Back
The announcement quickly drew an enthusiastic response from viewers who have followed Jenny and Lee throughout their 12 years on the program.
One fan wrote: “I can’t wait; I will be watching; don’t you worry about that.”
Another added: “Can’t wait for Friday night and looking forward to it. You both are my favourite people who always make me laugh.”
Others kept their reactions short but equally enthusiastic.

Their popularity has grown steadily since they first appeared on Gogglebox more than a decade ago.
The pair quickly became known for their comic exchanges and memorable one-liners, establishing themselves as two of the Channel 4 show’s most recognizable regulars.
But their friendship stretches back much further than their television career.
Jenny and Lee first met in 1994, when Lee became a customer at The Crown Inn in Paull, where Jenny was working as the landlady.
Jenny previously recalled that Lee would regularly visit the pub with his partner and that the pair immediately formed a close friendship.
“He became a regular in 1994 and used to come in pretty much every night with his partner and we were friends from the off,” she said.
“We’ve been best friends ever since.”
Friendship Came Long Before Gogglebox
Lee has also joked about their first meeting, admitting he noticed Jenny’s hairstyle immediately.
“I wish I’ve never gone in the pub – it cost me a fortune,” he joked.
“When I first met her she had a perm and I can remember thinking, ‘She needs a haircut’.”
Despite the teasing, he said they became “firm friends immediately.”
That long-running friendship eventually became the chemistry viewers now see on Gogglebox, where their reactions to television have kept audiences entertained since 2014.
After finishing the previous series in May, their absence left fans waiting to discover when they would return.
That wait is now almost over.
Jenny and Lee’s announcement confirms that they will once again be back on the sofa as the new series begins, bringing their familiar mix of laughter, commentary and friendship with them.
