Prince Harry is slowly becoming a shadow of who he once was. Ever since the dad-of-two stepped back from royal life to move across the pond, it’s like he has completely lost touch with reality. Since starting his life over with his wife, Meghan, he has developed into an uncharacteristic Hollywood persona and almost entirely lost his ability to read a room.
It’s clear to see the Duke of Sussex has taken several leaves out of his wife’s PR handbook, but his latest move is simply a step too far. On Monday (July 20), the 41-year-old joined James Corden on Fox’s show, After Hours with James Corden.

Minutes into the show, the Gavin and Stacey star – who is believed to be friends with the royal – questioned the prince about his sporting abilities after the World Cup 2026 ended. Keeping the conversation light, the TV presenter was quick to joke that the school the prince attended may have been “too posh” for the sport.
He asked whether he had played soccer during his school years, a question that soon became a point of contention. Harry was quick to jokingly tell James off for referring to the sport as soccer, an American term, rather than football.
It’s clear that he missed the irony here after he made the same mistake just days earlier when he was being interviewed in Birmingham about the upcoming Invictus Games. He went on to confirm that Eton College did allow students to play football, smugly revealing: “It was such a posh school that everything was an option. There was a football team.”

The snarky comment simply oozed privilege and changed the tone of the interview from being a unifying topic to one of entitlement and luxury. Clearly realising his error, the Duke tried to claw back some humility by revealing that, while he was good at football in prep school, he was not on the best team at Eton.

Harry admitted: “You know what, in prep school, I was on the first team. And then I went to the bigger school, nd I ended up on the E team. Big A team, down to E team. So that didn’t feel very good.”
The Duke’s recent comments left a sour taste in my mouth, but this wasn’t the first time I’d experienced it this week. I experienced a similar feeling to when his wife received an Emmy nomination for her critically panned Netflix show, With Love, Meghan.
Yes, that’s right. The very same show that was axed by network bosses after only two years, moments before unfollowing her on social media. The series is nominated in the Outstanding Lifestyle Series category, where it will compete against NBC’s George to the Rescue, Hallmark’s The Motherhood, The Wizard of Paws, and A Different Breed.
Without even lifting a finger, the Duchess has somehow secured a TV nomination despite receiving only a 23% rating on the popular critics’ site Rotten Tomatoes. It’s obvious that the couple are content living in cuckoo land, where money and status buy them everything they want in life, whether they deserve it or not.
If Meghan has any sense, she will politely remove herself from the running in the Emmy category and save herself and the Royal Family the embarrassment of losing out to a far superior show. Considering the Sussexes stepped back from royal duties to raise their children in private, they have both been on our screens more than ever, and I, for one, am fed up with it.
The pair of them should go back to school and socialise with people outside of their tight-knit group and gain some proper perspective. What the hell, maybe they could take a PR class or two whilst they’re there. Maybe there they will learn how to win over the British people they are desperately trying to reconnect with.
