Stacey Solomon shares her ‘heartbreak’ over Manchester synagogue terror attack

Two people have died in the tragedy

TV presenter Stacey Solomon has reacted to the “heartbreaking” news that two people have died in an attack on a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur. Yom Kippur is the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

At least two people were killed in the attack at Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Crumpsall, Manchester, in this morning’s attack (October 2).

    What happened in Manchester today?

At 9.30am today, a car was driven into a crowd before the male driver started stabbing people. As well as the two people who have lost their lives, police have said that four other people are currently in a serious condition.

The suspect was feared to be wearing an explosive vest. He was shot dead within seven minutes of the initial call to the emergency services, Greater Manchester Police’s chief constable, Sir Stephen Watson said.

Now Stacey has broken her silence on the attack. And she’s revealed she’s “scared” as well as “heartbroken”.

Posting to her Stories, Stacey shared her heartbreak over the atrocity. She also said that she’s aware that no matter what she says, “someone, somewhere won’t like it”.

Posting white text against a black background, she shared: “It is heartbreaking to hear of the attack at a synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected.”

Stacey then added: “I’m also thinking of anyone right now who feels scared for themselves and their loved ones just because of who they are. Being Jewish feels scary and that is heartbreaking.”

Turning her attention to the war in Gaza, she then continued. The star added: “It goes without saying, although I’ve said this before. My thoughts are also with the innocent people in Gaza. Being proudly Jewish and being against the horrific attack today does not cancel the other.”

Sadly, she added: “I realise no matter what I say, someone somewhere won’t like it. But all I really have to say is that none of this is okay.”

Prince William reveals how he and Kate told their children about her cancer battle

William tells Eugene Levy in Apple TV+ show The Reluctant Traveler that family is the most important thing in his life, and he goes to great lengths to ensure they are protected

Prince William has admitted that last year he felt “overwhelmed” by the health woes affecting his family. In a deeply personal confession to actor Eugene Levy, he said that dealing with his wife Catherine and his father King Charles both battling cancer last year had taken him to “not great places”.

And when it came to telling his three children about their mother’s devastating diagnosis last year, he worried about the “knock on effects” of such upsetting news. But relaxing with the Canadian sitcom star as he gave him a personal tour of Windsor Castle, William said that the youngsters each had their own “coping mechanisms” and that all three had “managed brilliantly”.

Speaking to Eugene for his AppleTV+ documentary The Reluctant Traveler, he said that while he can take the history of the royals, and his duty as the future king, in his stride, he finds family issues far more difficult to cope with.

When it comes to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10 and seven-year-old Prince Louis, William is asked how they dealt with the crushing blow that their mother was battling cancer.

It is thought they were told the news in February 2024, a fews weeks after Catherine underwent abdominal surgery, which is when cancerous cells were discovered during post-operative tests. At the time William pulled out of one engagement, at St George’s Chapel, Windsor, at the very last moment citing “personal reasons” as the family came to terms with what they were dealing with.

“Everyone has their own coping mechanisms for these sorts of things, and children are constantly learning and adapting,” he tells Eugene now. “We try to make sure we give them the security and the safety that they need.”

    William and Eugene Levy

Suggesting that he still frets over whether they are hiding their feelings or bottling up emotions for the future, William says: “We’re a very open family, so we talk about things that bother us, and things that trouble us, but you never quite know the knock-on effects that it can have. And so, it’s just important to be there for each other and to kind of reassure the children that everything is OK.”

In scenes filmed in February, the Schitt’s Creek favourite asks the prince, gently, how Kate and the king are doing after finishing their respective treatments, and William is happy to report that they are doing well.

“Things are good,” he says, adding that Catherine being in remission now was “great news”. “Everything is progressing in the right way.”

William, whose Diana died in a car crash in Paris in 1997, when he was just 15, has branded 2024 as the “hardest year I’ve ever had”. Explaining why that was, he says: “Trying to sort of balance protecting the children, Catherine, my father needs a bit of protection, but he’s old enough to do that himself as well. But it’s important my family feel protected and have the space to process a lot of the stuff that’s gone on last year, and that was tricky trying to do that and keep doing the job.”

    Prince William and Eugene Levy

The two men hit it off and had lots of laughs amid more serious discussions about health and the future monarch(Image: Courtesy of Apple)

Admitting that he found it hard to deal with in the full glare of public scrutiny, he explains: “You know, we all have challenges that come our way and it’s important to keep going. I enjoy my job, but sometimes there are aspects of it such as the media, the speculation, you know the scrutiny, that make it a little bit harder than other jobs. It’s just making sure that doesn’t overtake and intrude into areas at times when you just want a bit of space, and a bit of peace and quiet.”

But sitting in Windsor pub The Two Brewers with his new Hollywood pal, while sipping his pint of sweet cider, William allowed himself a moment of deep reflection over what his loved ones have been through. “You know life is sent to test us as well and it definitely can be challenging at times, and being able to overcome that is what makes us who we are,” he declares. “You know, I’m so proud of my wife and my father, for how they’ve handled all of last year. My children have managed brilliantly as well.”

When Eugene, 78, suggests that health is the most important thing we all have in life, William agrees that, like many, he’s probably taken being fit and well for granted. This is not least because his great-grandmother, the Queen Mother, lived to 101 and his grandparents Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip also enjoyed very long lives.

Eugene came away from the interview thinking than that William was far more down-to-earth than he’d expected(Image: Courtesy of Apple)

“I was probably guilty of that,” he says. “We’ve been very lucky; we hadn’t had many illnesses in the family for a very long time. My grandparents lived until they were in the high 90s – they were the vision of fitness, and stoicism, and resilience if you like. So, we’ve been very lucky as a family.

“But I think when you suddenly realise that the rug, the metaphorical rug, can be pulled from under your feet quite quick at any point. You maybe think to yourself ‘it won’t happen to us, we’ll be OK’ – because I think everyone has a positive outlook, you’ve got to be positive. But when it does happen to you, then yeah, it takes you into some pretty, you know, not great places.”

Asked whether he felt the weight of the royal family’s long history a burden, William tells Eugene: “I wouldn’t say history overwhelms me. Other things overwhelm me, but not history. I think if you’re not careful, history can be a real weight and an anchor round you, and you can feel suffocated by it, and restricted by it too much. And I think it’s important to live, for the here and now.”

Pressed on what the “other things” are, he replies: “I think, stuff to do with family overwhelms me, quite a bit. You know, worry or stress around the family side of things.

“When it’s to do with family and things like that, then that’s where I start getting a bit overwhelmed – as I think most people would, because it’s more personal, it’s more about feeling, it’s more about upsetting the rhythm, if you like.”

During the filming of the episode, called Living the Royal Life in the UK, the pair chat while exploring inside the castle and the extensive grounds, where they are accompanied by William’s dog Orla. Afterwards, they retire to a nearby pub, taking Orla with them.

At 43 years old, William suggests that he has grown into his role as a working royal and heir to the throne. “In terms of, you know, doing the job and things like that, I don’t feel too overwhelmed by that. Not now anyway,” he reasons. “When I was younger, yeah, there are bits that overwhelm you, a bit like ‘wow are we actually doing this? Is this sort of happening?’ but with time and age, I think you feel a bit more settled In that side of things and you go, ‘actually I can do that’. And even if a few curve balls come in, that doesn’t necessarily overwhelm me.”

With his mother having suffered from an unacceptable level of media intrusion during the 1980s and 90s, it’s no surprise that William fiercely guards his family’s privacy. Sitting in the pub, the Prince of Wales said he simply won’t allow history to repeat itself. “It’s hard to think of it now, but they were much more insatiable,” he recalls. “If you let that creep in, the damage it can do to your family life is something that I vowed would never happen to my family. But equally I understand, in my role there is interest, you have to work with the media, they’re all there. So, you have to have a grown-up sort of situation with it as well. It’s about knowing where the line is and what you’re willing to put up with.”

And looking brighter as Eugene asks about his general outlook on life in 2025, William laughs: “I am optimistic. I’m generally a very optimistic person, especially when I’m with someone like you Eugene.”

    ‘It’s just hair after all’

TV star Ashley James left viewers divided after she showed off a new hair colour on This Morning today (October 2).

Since carving out a career in television, Ashley is no stranger to a glam look. From her stylish day-to-day outfits and glitzy red carpet ensembles, the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant is constantly wowing her followers.

However, Ashley, who is a natural blonde, has opted for a change in hair colour. Earlier this week, Ashley appeared on This Morning with a slightly lighter shade of orange.

Days later, she seems to have dyed her locks once again and chosen a warmer copper shade, perfect for autumn.

That said, since debuting the new look on the ITV daytime show, it seems people have different opinions.

“Does she think that if she dyes her hair people will take her seriously,” one user wrote on X.

“I like Ashley’s Pre-Raphaelite look. She’s still a pain in the [bleep] though,” another person shared.

“Ashley’s new hair is fab on her !!!” a third remarked.

“Much better colour but it doesn’t suit Ashley,” a fourth said.

“Oh my days! Ashley’s hair,” a fifth person expressed.

“Ashley’s hair is much better today – gorgeous warm colour,” a sixth declared.

‘I’ve been talking about getting copper hair for so long’

In an Instagram video shared three hours ago, Ashley showed off her stunning new look in a before-and-after clip.

“I love being blonde and it’s definitely my identity but I felt so blonde blind and bored so this feels like a nice autumnal change,” she wrote.

“I’ve been talking about getting copper hair for so long and not been brave enough, so here we are being brave. It’s just hair after all.”

She thanked her followers, adding: “Thank you all so much for the nudge to go for it.”

SHOCKING:ITV GMB viewers make demand over Ed Balls following ‘stupid’ comments during interview: ‘Get him off!’

ITV GMB viewers make demand over Ed Balls following 'stupid' comments during interview: 'Get him off!'

Ed Balls has come under fire for what some Good Morning Britain viewers deemed “negative” and “stupid” comments during an interview with a mother raising awareness of a brutal condition her daughter lives with.

Thursday’s edition of the ITV show saw 13-year-old Jasmine, who suffers with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa, and her mother Anna join presenters Mr Balls and Susanna Reid to discuss the rare condition, also known as Butterfly Skin.

Jasmine suffers from the sever genetic skin disorder which causes fragile skin and leads to constant blisters and wounds along with agonising pain.

“The condition means that the glue which would hold the layers of skin together is missing and it means that her skin blisters, tears at the most delicate of touches,” Ms Reid explained.

    Good Morning Britain

Good Morning Britain: Ed Balls and Susanna Reid met 13-year-old Jasmine, who suffers with Recessive Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa

Mr Balls continued: “So, her mum Anna and grandad Robert are preparing to undertake a huge challenge of their own, they will climb Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain. They will do that late this month.”

“How do you feel about mum and grandad climbing the highest mountain in Africa?” Ms Reid asked the teenager, who replied: “Well, I’m proud of them but I will miss them loads.”

The ITV host asked: “What would you like people watching to understand about your butterfly skin?”

“How painful it really is,” Jasmine responded. Anna detailed: “Every other day, Jasmine has to go through four to five hours of bandage changes, which she is in excruciating pain for from the moment we start.

“She is on morphine. It doesn’t touch the sides. We can’t manage the pain. Jasmine must have a massive, really high pain threshold.

    Ed, Susanna, Jasmine and Anna

“Her body is 80 per cent wounds. You can’t see them, but under these clothes Jasmine is bandaged from head-to-toe.

“If we didn’t bandage each individual finger, her fingers would fuse together because of the scar tissue. It takes hours.”

On the momentous challenge the determined mother is taking on, Ms Reid commented: “Well Anna, somebody who knows what it is like to climb Mount Kilimanjaro is right here next to us.”

“That is true,” Mr Balls remarked. The presenter climbed the mountain in 2019 for Red Nose Day.

He detailed: “I went all the way to the top. And it took days and days. And I think the advice is, you have to eat as much as you can because you get really hungry and as you get higher and higher, some people get affected by the lack of oxygen.

“You never know if it is going to happen to you. My son said to me, I climbed up with Little Mix, he said if they get to the top, you need to get there, too.

“And I had to redouble my efforts. It was hard in the final hours. It is beautiful up there.”

Turning to Jasmine, he added: “There is a mobile phone signal, your mum will be able to give you a call at the top of the mountain, even do a FaceTime, and say ‘I’m here!’ You will almost be there with her.”

Anna admitted: “I’m petrified. It is the unknown of the altitude. I don’t know, I have done the odd bit of altitude before. I was OK, I don’t know how it will affect me.”

“Nobody does,” Mr Balls emphasised. “It’s not about fitness, it is about your genetic make-up.”

    Ed Balls and Susanna Reid

Good Morning Britain: Ed Balls warned Anna to ‘be prepared’

He went on: “I went to a test a few weeks before with Dani Dyer, she passed. The doctor said to me, ‘I will send you to A&E now,’ and they made me spend three weeks on an oxygen machine before we went.”

Ms Reid quickly interjected: “Shall we try not to put you off?” but Mr Balls doubled down, warning Anna: “Be prepared!”

Taking to social media, viewers fumed at the host for his “negative” steering of the conversation.

One penned on X: “Ed is just as self-centred as [Richard] Madeley, they make every single story about themselves, make inappropriate comments and clearly make guests uncomfortable.”

“Shut Ed Balls up, this poor girl is suffering enough #GMB,” a second wrote.

“Ed Balls really should stop making negative stupid comments about the climb #GMB,” an other pointed out.

Someone else posted: “Oh my God, shut up Ed, the poor woman looks nervous enough, good luck to Anna.”

“It’s not all about you Ed, you middle class p****, it’s about brave, pained Jasmine #GMB,” another furious viewer added.

Someone else shared: “What a stupid conversation to have with her mum Ed, it’s about her, not you #gmb,” while one more pleaded: “#GMB – #ITV please get Ed out of this programme!”

“ALL TALK, NO ACTION” – Starmer Faces PUBLIC BACKLASH After Manchester Synagogue Attack

Một bức ảnh của cảnh sát tại hiện trường

Britain is once again staring directly into the shadow of hatred and violence after a terrorist attack on a synagogue in Manchester shook the country to its core on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

This morning’s atrocity — a car driven into civilians, followed by a brutal stabbing outside the Crumpsall synagogue — left multiple dead and injured, triggering a massive armed police response and the declaration of “Plato,” the national emergency code for a marauding terror attack.

Starmer's just slapped pensioners in the face again | Express Comment | Comment | Express.co.uk

By midday, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer had cut short his trip to Copenhagen, flown back to London, and chaired an emergency Cobra meeting. Hours later, he addressed the nation in somber tones, his words both an acknowledgment of grief and a call to resilience.

“So many Jewish families first came to this country as a place of refuge, fleeing the greatest evil ever inflicted on a people,” Starmer said gravely. “And Britain welcomed them. Communities like the one attacked in Manchester provided not just safety, but the security of knowing that this country stands up to hatred. That is the story of Britain.”

But his address took a darker turn as he admitted that even in modern Britain, Jewish life remains under constant threat. “This is a country where synagogues and even schools require round-the-clock protection,” he continued. “Specialist security is necessary because of the daily menace of antisemitic hatred. Today’s horrific incident shows exactly why.”

For many, Starmer’s words hit home with devastating clarity. The attack has not only reignited fear within Jewish communities but also cast a harsh light on the fragility of Britain’s promise of safety. While Starmer vowed that “Britain must defeat hatred once again,” critics have already begun to question whether the government is capable of fulfilling this pledge.

Political opponents moved swiftly. Kemi Badenoch of the Conservatives condemned the attack as “vile and disgusting,” while Nigel Farage of Reform UK posted that he was “horrified,” calling the assault on families at prayer “an unforgivable act of violence.” Yet beneath the cross-party unity of sympathy lies a bitter truth: this attack will sharpen the debate over security, migration, and Britain’s preparedness against terror.

Ordinary citizens, meanwhile, are left shaken. In Manchester, mourners lit candles outside synagogues as police in tactical gear stood guard. On social media, fear and anger mixed in equal measure. One message, widely shared, read simply: “If even worship is not safe, then where is?”

The symbolism of the attack on Yom Kippur — a day of reflection, repentance, and unity — is not lost. Jewish leaders warn that antisemitic hatred is “rising once again,” echoing Starmer’s own words. For a nation that prides itself on tolerance and refuge, this is more than just an isolated incident: it is a chilling reminder of a centuries-old hatred resurfacing in new forms.

Now the question facing Britain is stark. Will Starmer’s government transform condolences into concrete protection, or will this tragedy join the long line of moments when national leaders promised safety but delivered little beyond words?

The people of Britain, grieving and fearful, are demanding more than assurances. They are demanding action — because in the aftermath of Manchester, the promise of security has never looked more fragile, or more essential.

However, she is set to return in a different capacity: as the show’s first-ever guest mentor to put the couples through their paces as they prepare to dance to big-screen classics.

Cynthia previously made a splash on Strictly Come Dancing after replacing Craig Revel Horwood as a guest judge in 2021, but with the imminent release of Wicked: For Good, hype is at an all-time high.

“Strictly wanted to sprinkle some real Hollywood magic on to Movie Week and have Cynthia coming on board to help train the stars,” a source claimed to The Sun.

“She’ll be working with all the celebrities in the rehearsal rooms in the lead-up, then will be live in the Strictly studio to give her feedback on their routines. If it’s a success, they hope that this will pave the way for more big-name stars to have guest mentor roles on the show.”

Keeping with the theme, the professionals are also touted to perform a Wicked-themed dance routine, which will be based on the duet As Long As You’re Mine.

Last year, Cynthia played Elphaba in the Wizard of Oz prequel Wicked. The movie musical amassed over half a billion pounds at the global box office and was nominated for 10 Academy Awards. It also broke records as the highest-grossing adapted Broadway musical of all time.

The energetic, football-themed dance scored them a combined 31, shooting them to the top of the leaderboard.

Shirley Ballas called the dance “sensational”, adding that it was the “best dance of the night” for her, with Craig agreeing, dubbing the routine “sensational”.

Karen is now the favourite to win.

Loose Women panel criticised for their treatment of Jeff Brazier

As Kaye introduced him, Jeff quipped with a smile: “I will take it away. But first, Kaye… Ore looks strong. You’re gonna enjoy the interview, he’s wearing a tank top as well.”

He was referring to upcoming guest Ore Oduba, who was appearing later to promote Frankenstein: The Musical. The panel and audience laughed.

But Jeff soon noticed the unusual setup.

“What about my chair? Where’s my chair gone? You’re making me stand up.”

“You look strong, that’s why we’re making you stand up!” Judi replied playfully.

Jeff laughed and responded: “Ayy, I love that.” But the interaction took a slightly more awkward turn when Kaye added: “You’ve been a naughty boy.”

Jeff hesitated, appearing briefly caught off guard, before replying: “Really? Okay, Kaye, doing it again.”

He quickly pivoted to announcing the £1 million competition. But the moment didn’t go unnoticed by viewers.

    Viewers react

Within minutes of the segment airing, social media lit up with viewers expressing discomfort at what they perceived as double standards and inappropriate innuendo.

“The way they treated Jeff then, imagine if it were four blokes treating a woman like that. Made him feel uncomfortable and awkward,” one viewer fumed.

“I’ve said this for a while,” another agreed. “Imagine if the tables were turned and it was four male panellists talking innuendo about [bleep]ing a female presenter like the #LooseWomen do about Ben Shephard.”

A third viewer responded, “Sexism is rife both ways,” while another called the moment “shocking”.

Others took a more balanced view, acknowledging the history of similar treatment toward women in media.

“To be fair, women have put up with that from men for decades. It’s only now the tables have turned. However, that doesn’t make it right, and I don’t think either is acceptable. Both need to end.”

HEARTBREAKING: Strictly Fans Shocked As Harry Aikines-Aryeetey Reveals Gruelling Behind-The-Scenes Asthma Struggle

Strictly Come Dancing's Harry Aikines-Aryeetey reveals 'tough' hidden health struggle with asthma

Strictly Come Dancing’s Harry Aikines-Aryeetey has lifted the lid on his secret struggle with asthma.

Harry, aka Gladiators’ Nitro, revealed he suffers with the chronic lung disease during an appearance on BBC‘s The One Show.

Despite being a professional sprinter, Harry is finding he has to reach for his inhaler during Strictly rehearsals with dance partner, Karen Hauer.

This weekend, the pair will be taking to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom for their second dance of the 2025 series. Harry and Karen will be performing a Quickstep to Everybody Needs Somebody To Love by The Blues Brothers. But the gruelling training can leave him breathless.

Harry, 37, admitted: “It’s tough. Obviously when people have exercise-induced asthma or asthma in general, it is something you have to be mindful of in any capacity in which you train for. Sometimes the temperature can affect it; whether it’s hot or cold.

“So it’s about pre-planning and always thinking ahead. The asthma pump is never too far away.”

The sportsman continued: “People always ask me, ‘How are you a sprinter and yet you have asthma?’ It’s a bit of mental strength. You’ve really got to push yourself at the same time.

“Create a bit of a support network for yourself. Make people aware. Karen knows I have asthma. Whenever I run over to my little bag, [my pump] is there and then off we go!”

    Harry’s Gladiator injury

This is the second health battle Harry has opened up about in less than a week. Following Saturday’s Week 1 live show, he was left choking back tears after being hit with a wave of emotion.

Harry admitted to Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly how an injury two years ago had left him fearing he “wouldn’t run or walk”.

The professional athlete was training for the second series of BBC Gladiators when he badly injured his knee. It meant Harry had to pull out of the show when it aired in January 2024.

At the time, he admitted online: “Speed is my thing, but sometimes life throws a curveball! During training for series 2 earlier this year, I picked up an unexpected knee injury, which means I’ll be shifting gears this series and sitting out the events.”

On Saturday, Harry and Karen performed a Samba to Push It by Salt-N-Peppa and scored 19, placing them in the middle of the leaderboard. But when they had finished, Harry found himself welling up.

He told presenter Tess: “This time last year, I wasn’t able to do anything like that. I never thought I’d be myself again. I had an injury and didn’t know if I’d be able to walk, run…

“Yeah, I just feel emotional. I’ve dreamed of this moment. Even though I did Christmas, I wasn’t 100 per cent. But I’m here and I’m 100 per cent and I’m thankful.”

    Harry’s ‘mini-me’ daughter

Harry and his wife Lauren have a five-year-old daughter together called Aubree-Isla. The youngster is said to be a huge fan of Strictly Come Dancing and has thrown herself into training with her dad.

“My secret trainer is my daughter, Aubree-Isla,” Harry revealed. “Literally, I’ve got so much love and joy and passion for her. The thing is, as an athlete, you do thinks selfishly and for yourself. But as I’ve had a daughter and gone through this process, every show I’ve done has had a positive effect on her.”

He explained: “I did Celebrity MasterChef, now she won’t stop cooking. It’s the same with Strictly. All week she’s being saying, ‘Push it real good!’. And when I’m wearing my Cuban heels, she goes and gets her heels on. Anything I do, she does.”

    Like father, like daughter. Cute!
