BREAKING NEWS: Lamar Jackson the “KING” has Arrived? – Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen “BOW DOWN”?

Defining Ravens games that could raise Lamar Jackson's MVP candidacy

For many, it was unfair that Lamar Jackson wasn’t named MVP last season, despite having a spectacular year with better numbers than Josh Allen, who ended up winning the award. The Ravens quarterback threw for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdown passes, and was only intercepted once-it was truly a show.

Lamar Jackson came very close to winning his third MVP of his career. Many consider it unfair, but that’s how things turned out. However, life is about to reward the quarterback in another way, and it looks like a never-before-seen contract in NFL history is on the way.

Currently, Lamar Jackson is the tenth highest-paid quarterback in the NFL, after signing a five-year, $260 million deal in 2023, with $185 million guaranteed. But that is about to change, possibly in the coming months.

Despite the silence, a mega-contract is coming for Lamar Jackson

A couple of months ago, Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh stated that there had been discussions about reaching an agreement with Lamar Jackson to extend his contract. However, there has not yet been any movement on that front.

On the “BMore Baseball Podcast,” Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta finally gave fans some news about what’s currently happening between the front office and their quarterback, Lamar Jackson.

“We’ve had some conversations before the draft, after the draft, in person last week,” said DeCosta. “I think we’re in the introductory stage of exploring what an extension could look like.”

One of the key factors behind Lamar Jackson’s potential contract extension is that his salary cap hit will rise to $74.5 million starting in 2026, which is unsustainable. Extending the quarterback’s contract could help manage that situation, while also ensuring they keep one of the NFL’s top players-arguably the best.

And Lamar isn’t the only one: other key Ravens players like safety Kyle Hamilton and center Tyler Linderbaum also need extensions. So the team must manage cap space carefully to avoid harming the franchise in the future.

“We’re handling a lot of situations with different players,” said DeCosta. “We’re fortunate that most of the team is returning, but as we look two, three, four, five years ahead, we’re trying to keep as many good players as possible. There are some players we believe could be truly prolific for us and be here for a long time. We’re trying to lock in as many of those players as we can. It’s a big challenge, and Lamar is certainly a central part of that.”
