The programme has introduced us to numerous iconic characters, from legends like Ken Barlow (William Roache) and Rita Tanner (Barbara Knob), to newer additions such as David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd).
Interestingly, there’s one cast member who is reportedly earning a significant amount – but the top earner might not be who you’d expect.
As The Mirror reports, across Emmerdale, Coronation Street and EastEnders, the pay structure is consistent, with actors receiving a fee per episode, ranging from £400 to £2,000, along with a guaranteed number of episodes per year and a repeat fee, reports Leicestershire Live.

While it’s unclear which Corrie star is the highest paid, rumours have circulated over the years about the net worth of some of our favourite cast members.
Jack P. Shepherd, who plays David Platt, is one of the soap’s top earners and is considered one of the highest-paid soap actors of all time – despite only joining the soap in 2000.
He was also recently crowned the winner of the Celebrity Big Brother 2025 series. His fee for Coronation Street is reported to be a staggering £250,000, according to The Sun.

The revelation that Jack is the highest earner may surprise some, given that William Roache – who has portrayed Ken Barlow for the longest time in the soap – reportedly earns the same annual salary. It’s suggested that William receives a substantial £250,000 yearly salary for his portrayal of Ken, a role he’s held since the show’s inception in 1960.
Reported salaries of other cast members include Barbara Knox, who has played Rita Tanner since 1964 and is believed to earn a tidy £200,000 annually from her work on the popular soap.
Michael Le Vell, known for his role as Kevin Webster, reportedly takes home an impressive £170,000 each year. As for Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald and has appeared in over 3,000 episodes, he is said to be earning around £150,000.
