Former Fox News producer Jennifer Eckhart has died at the age of 36, according to authorities in Florida.
Eckhart was found at her home on Saturday, September 19, after her mother, Cynthia, discovered her there, according to an incident report from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Christine Christofek, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, confirmed that Eckhart’s death had been ruled a suicide.
The former television producer spent seven years working at Fox, including as an associate producer for Fox Business.
Her death comes after several turbulent years in which she became publicly known for a high-profile legal case involving former Fox News anchor Ed Henry.
Eckhart Accused Former Fox News Anchor Ed Henry
In 2020, Eckhart accused Henry of rape and brought legal action against him.
Henry denied the allegations.
Fox News terminated Henry’s employment after the allegations became known.
At the time, the network said: “Fox News took swift action as soon as it learned of Ms. Eckhart’s claims on June 25 and Mr. Henry is no longer employed by the network.”
Fox also said there had previously been no sexual harassment claims made against Henry at the network before Eckhart came forward.
Fox News was later dismissed as a defendant in the lawsuit.
Eckhart and Henry eventually reached a settlement in 2025.
Following the conclusion of the case, Eckhart spoke publicly about the emotional toll of the lengthy legal process.
“This has been an exhaustive, retraumatizing, five-year legal battle with incredible challenges that at times I almost felt was unable to bear,” she told PEOPLE.
She said reaching a settlement allowed her to begin moving forward.
“With this settlement in place, a weight has now been lifted from my shoulders and my passion to support fellow trauma survivors has been renewed,” she said.
Henry later went on to work for Newsmax.
Eckhart Faced Another Legal Ordeal
Eckhart’s final years also included a separate legal matter involving an ex-boyfriend.
In July 2025, she was arrested and accused of assaulting him.
However, the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office later declined to pursue the case because of insufficient evidence.
Speaking to The Independent afterwards, Eckhart said she felt vindicated by the decision.
“I feel vindicated that this matter has been resolved in my favor, with the state declining to file any charges,” she said.
At the time, she said she wanted to focus on rebuilding her life and helping other people who had experienced trauma.
Turning ‘Pain Into Purpose’
After leaving Fox, Eckhart developed several projects centred around supporting survivors.
She hosted a podcast called REINVENTED and also ran The Reinvented Project, a non-profit organisation that aimed to help trauma survivors through animal-assisted therapy.
Eckhart had spoken openly about wanting to turn difficult experiences in her own life into something that could benefit others.
“My mission has always been to turn pain into purpose,” she told The Independent.
She added: “Through my platform, I will continue standing alongside survivors of assault, abuse, and domestic violence, reminding them they are not alone and that strength and healing are possible.”
Those words now carry added poignancy following confirmation of her death at just 36.
