A new Netflix documentary has left viewers on the edge of their seats as it delves into the shocking events leading up to the tragic impl0sion of a submersible carrying five people.
In 2023, the Titan submarine, operated by OceanGate, embarked on a journey to the Titanic wreck site. On board were the company’s CEO, Stockton Rush, Titanic expert Paul-Henri Nargeolet, and three paying passengers: Hamish Harding, Shahzada Dawood, and his 19 year old son, Suleman Dawood.
Tragedy struck when the vessel imploded about 90 minutes into its journey, succumbing to the immense pressure of the ocean at a depth of approximately 3,300 meters below sea level.
The documentary features an interview with diving YouTuber Jake Koehler, also known as DALLMYD, who had been on board the vessel just days before its ill-fated dive. Koehler recounts how he had grown up fearing the Titanic after watching the film as a child.
“One of the scariest movies growing up was Titanic for me,” he shares. “It was weird coming full circle that I was going to check it out as an adult, but I actually reached out to OceanGate myself.”

Koehler’s hopes of seeing the Titanic were repeatedly dashed due to bad weather, and after spending nine days at sea, the expedition was called off, reports Manchester Evening News. However, CEO Stockton Rush decided to attempt one last dive in the Titan on the journey back, inviting Koehler on board.
“I got in, it was really strange because at that point I’ve never been inside it before,” he recalled. “We were about to go off but the fog rolled in so that dive was cancelled.
“It kind of sounds weird to say now but I was a bit disappointed. That whole duration probably took a couple of hours but I remember my feet being cold because of the condensation inside the submersible. You could see it beading.”

He continued, sharing one thing that still haunted him: “Later on I remember they had the crane holding up the dome after everyone p@ssed away and I just remembered my feet was literally on that dome just a few days before.
“And I’m just thinking like ‘Damn, you know, like what if that was me?’ It’s a bit tough.
“It’s a lot of what-ifs but you can’t live life like that you know?”

His footage from the trip was shared online with his 13 million subscribers, detailing his experience sleeping across from Nargeolet whom he asked for a signature.
“I believe it could be his very last signature that he ever did,” Koehler shared in his video.
“I didn’t know PH for a long time, but he was a great friend to me for the time that I knew him and I really appreciate that I’ll cherish this signature and also one of your photos that I’ll hang in my house for my life.”
