Gardening expert Jamie Butterworth made an exciting announcement on social media. The TV presenter, who is a regular on Gardeners’ World, revealed he is expecting his first child with his wife, Devon. Jamie posted several images on Instagram as he shared the “secret” they had been keeping under wraps with his 42,000 followers. His co-star and lead presenter, Monty Don, was one of the first to react to the big announcement.
In the sweet snaps, the couple are seen standing close together, holding their ultrasound scan as Jamie rests a protective hand on his wife Devon’s stomach. Another photo shows them sitting together on a bench, as Jamie proudly holds the scan in front of them both.

Jamie penned: “We’ve been keeping a secret (and a fairly big one). Baby Butterworth, due early January 2027.”
Social media users flooded the comment section with congratulatory messages.
In a two-word admission, Monty Don penned: “Hurrah. Congratulations.”
Nikki Chapman commented: “Wonderful news,” while Zoe Ball wrote: “Big hearty congrats to you both wow. best job ever. i promise.”(sic)
GMB’s Charlotte Hawkins added: “Amazing! What fabulous news, big congratulations.”
Viewers may recognise Jamie as a regular on Gardeners’ World and cites Monty Don as the gardener who inspired him to get into horticulture.
He also appeared on the RHS Show Feature Dog Garden at Chelsea Flower Show last year – which he created alongside Monty Don and DJ Jo Whiley.
Jamie is also a familiar face on ITV’s Love Your Weekend tied the knot with wife Devon in August 2025 and they reside in Windsor.
His nursery Form Plants also supplies plants to Windsor Castle – and when he met King Charles at Chelsea Flower Show, the King said: ‘I know Jamie — you are delivering plants to me on Wednesday. Please don’t be late.’”
