Several Fox News anchors were forced to admit that Donald Tr::ump’s brand-new 104% tariff on Chinese imports will be paid for by Americans. In a clip posted to X, the anchors for the early morning broadcast of the right-leaning news organization told the story of a small business owner who used to pay $26,000 in tariffs on goods imported from China, but now faces a $346,000 tariff.
“We think that China is gonna have to pay for it,” one of the anchors says in the clip while referring to an article in the New York Post. “It tells the story of a special needs toy importer, and when the tariffs went into effect at midnight, his tariff bill went from $26,000 at midnight to $346,000.”
“And that’s money that’s got to have to come out of his pocket,” the anchor continues before adding that the owner might have to “close down part of his business.” He went on to say that, when the owner talked with the outlet, he said people do not understand the tariff situation.

“They think foreign countries have to pay the tariff, that’s not true,” the anchor said. “Half of the tariffs are being paid for by U.S.-based companies.”
“So when you look at the big numbers and they look good,” the anchor finished. “Remember, according to this guy, half of the small businesses and half of the tariffs are being paid by Americans.”

The statement from the host was met with uncomfortable looks from the other anchors, who were looking anywhere but the man telling the story. Reactions on the social media site were mixed.
“Fox News finally discovered how tariffs work — after a special needs toy importer saw his bill jump from $26K to $346K overnight,” one person responded to the clip. “The world’s been shouting this for months: Americans pay the tariffs. Not China. Not Europe. Welcome to the cost of MAGAnomics.”
The story comes after many hosts for the news organizations have praised Tr::ump’s tariffs and lauded that they would allegedly solve America’s masculinity crisis. (Image: AP)
“Which country pays for the tariffs it imposes? This is getting ridiculous,” a second person stated. “Embarrassing for the leading economic nation.”
Other users called into question the validity of the math used to determine the price. “How does $26,000 go to $346,000? a 104% tariff should make it $53,040,” one person said.
“The math doesn’t math,” a second person stated. “It’s around $53k with a 104% increase.”

The story comes after many hosts for the news organizations have praised Tr::ump’s tariffs and lauded that they would allegedly solve America’s masculinity crisis. According to the hosts, masculinity will rise due to the fact that “jobs and factories will come roaring back” to the U.S. as a result of these tariffs.
Jesse Watters, one of the co-hosts of The Five, endorsed the argument during the show on Monday. “When you sit behind a screen all day, it makes you a woman. Studies have shown this. Studies have shown this,” Watters, who is known for giving his unasked opinions on what it means to be a man, said.
“And if you’re out working, building robots like [co-host] Harold Ford Jr., you are around other guys,” Watters insisted without providing any sort of data. “You’re not around HR ladies and lawyers—and that gives you estrogen.”
