Dominic Rickhards previously played therapist Michael Wall who was responsible for Jim and Liz McDonald’s break-up in the late nineties.
The love triangle tore the McDonald family apart and left fans reeling.
But now Dominic is set to play the seemingly charming Dom Norwood as part of Daisy Midgeley’s impending exit storyline.
The character will first appear in episodes airing next week when he arrives as the mystery man who Rovers landlady Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews) has been talking to on her dating app.
Dom charms Jenny and lures her into investing in his business.
However, the landlady is unaware that Dom has secretly been hired by Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan) and her mum Christina (Amy Robbins) to pose as the man that Jenny has been talking to online in a bid to con her.
It’s thought that Dominic will appear in multiple episodes as the plot intensifies over the coming weeks.
The storyline is part of Daisy’s forthcoming dramatic exit after actress Charlotte Jordan quit the soap after five years.
Dominic’s first stint on the cobbles saw him play occupational therapist Michael Wall.
The actor appeared in the role for almost two years between 1998 and 2000.
Adam Hussain’s Bold Exit: Coronation Street Shake-Up
Coronation Street fans convinced show newcomer is ‘improvising’ as they ‘talk over other character’s lines’ – did you spot it?
The character was brought in as show legend Jim McDonald’s (Charlie Lawson) therapist following an accident which had left him crippled and unable to walk or look after himself.
Michael then went on to embark on a steamy aff@ir with Jim’s wife Liz (Bev Callard) behind his back.
The pair later left Jim heartbroken when they revealed that they had been having an aff@ir and were now in love and moving away together.
In 2000, the character exited the show after he and Liz broke off their engagement after Liz decided she wanted to move back to Weatherfield.
Since leaving the soap the first time around, Dominic has appeared in a string of TV shows and films including Hollyoaks, Midsomer Murders, The Chelsea Detective and Waking the Dead.
He also appeared alongside Hollywood actor Steve Guttenberg in film The Well.
In 2001, Dominic was cast as one of the leads in ill fated ITV soap Night & Day.
