The Dallas Cowboys shockingly decided to move on from Mike McCarthy this offseason and are still trying to find their next leader.
Deion Sanders, as well as Tony Romo, has been mentioned throughout this process.
Brian Schottenheimer is the latest name in the mix and completed an in-person interview with Dallas this week.
Schottenheimer and his predecessor, Kellen Moore, are the notable candidates for head coach.
Jane Slater of the NFL Network, one of the league’s most prominent reporters, gave the biggest hint as to where the Dallas Cowboys are headed.
“I have no intel telling me a Cowboys HC announcement is coming in the next few hours other than the fact I have just sat down to get my hair done, which takes 3.5 hours,” said Jane Slater
“So fully expect it to happen because of that, and don’t be surprised when it’s Schotty. Carry on,” she added.
“Schotty” is obviously the current offensive coordinator for the Cowboys, Brian Schottenheimer.
Having served as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator for the past two seasons, Schottenheimer has already established himself within the team’s culture, and the players are comfortable with him.
Brian Schottenheimer Could Change Everything For The Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys had a bad year during the 2024 season. This team was coming off three straight 12-5 campaigns but failed to advance past the divisional round every year.
Hiring Schottenheimer certainly will be a much-debated decision for America’s Team, but the team needs to do something in order to keep pace with what is happening in the NFC East.
The Eagles are a viable Super Bowl team and the Washington Commanders are only going to get better with the emergence of Jaydan Daniels.
Schottenheimer can be the voice that unlocks the Dallas Cowboys and makes them a competitive team again, and not only in the regular season.
