How/where are you celebrating your birthday and with whom? “I am celebrating with friends and family in Colorado! Dinners, brunching and exploring!”
How did you get your start in your career? “The build-up to my career as a journalist was the culmination of many events. Some planned, some not. I always had a passion for finance, studied that in college, joined a trading firm as the only female on an all-male trade desk … then, began representing my firm on TV doing hits for various financial networks from the trading floor. Bloomberg TV called and asked for a meeting in New York, suggesting I may have a bright future as a financial TV journalist. I made the big jump into television and a year later was recruited to launch Fox Business Network in October 2007. Years later, I debuted on the Fox News Channel as co-host of ‘Outnumbered’ and now co-anchor ‘America’s Newsroom’ with Bill Hemmer weekdays 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. That’s the short story!”

What’s an interesting book/article you’re reading now or you’ve recently finished? And why? “I’ve been reading a Cornell study just published on the decline of the North American bird population. It found the total population is down 29% over the past 50 years. As a big supporter of conservation and the Aldo Leopold land ethic, these studies are fascinating to me.”

What’s a trend going on in the U.S. or abroad that doesn’t get enough attention? “The relationship between population, conservation and agriculture on a global scale.”
What’s a fun fact that people in Washington might not know about you? “I have a 5-year-old German Shorthair named Whiskey.”
