GB News ground to a halt for a breaking alert today, as legendary singer Bonnie Tyler d!ed at the age of 75. Entertainment editor Alex Davies had the latest as normal coverage was interrupted for the news that the Total Eclipse of the Heart songstress passed away “unexpectedly” in hospital in Portugal.
Davies explained: “She’s a singer whose songs have transcended generations, really – everybody knows Total Eclipse of the Heart, everybody knows Holding Out for a Hero. She’s been awarded an MBE, she represented the UK at Eurovision… Bonnie Tyler very sadly d!ed today at the age of 75, in hospital, in Portugal.
“Her family released a statement via her website, which in a testament to her popularity, has crashed with the amount of people trying to flock to the website to read this.
“It simply said, ‘Bonnie’s family and team are heartbroken to announce that Bonnie unexpectedly passed away last night in hospital in Portugal as a result of the illness that she was being treated for. We will issue a further statement shortly but for now as for privacy to deal with this.’”
He went on to say: “Bonnie Tyler was rushed to hospital in May in Portugal, and placed in an induced coma due to an infection that had obviously rendered her incredibly unwell.

“We’ve been drip fed bits and bobs of information since then – we heard that she was taken out of the induced coma but was left in intensive care. Obviously now the illness has been described as ‘unexpected’ this time, that has seen her d3ath.
“It’s just very sad. Tributes have already started to pour in from across the showbiz world and from fans in general. This is somebody who has transcended generations with music and will continue to do so.”
