Back in stripes: Bulls revive Jordan-era jerseys for 2025-26 season

It’s not 1996 again – but it might feel like it next season at the United Center.

On Tuesday, the Chicago Bulls officially revealed their new Statement Edition uniforms for the 2025-26 campaign. The fresh threads bring back a design burned into NBA history: black jerseys with bold red pinstripes, famously worn by Michael Jordan and company during the height of their dynasty. It’s the first time the Bulls have sported the look since the 2012-13 season, and this time, it comes with some modern flair.

The pinstripe jerseys first hit the hardwood during the 1995-96 season – the year the Bulls went 72-10 and captured their fourth title. They returned for a short stint in later years, but never stuck around for long. This new version isn’t just a throwback – it’s a revival.

To celebrate, Chicago leaned into its past. Dennis Rodman, who helped the Bulls win two titles in the pinstripes, appeared in a promotional video alongside guard Coby White and rookie Matas Buzelis. “These are nice,”Rodman said“It’s not even a throwback. It’s, like, brand-new for the new generation.”

Pinstripes with a Purpose: A Jersey That Connects Eras

While the look is steeped in history, the rollout isn’t just about nostalgia. The Bulls are targeting a younger fanbase that may not have seen Jordan live, but still feel his presence through highlights, documentaries, and now – jerseys. The design features updated materials and tailoring, keeping it aligned with Nike’s Statement Edition series while holding onto the swagger of the 90s originals.

Interestingly, this isn’t the only pinstripe comeback in Chicago sports this year. Back in May, the White Sox dropped a City Connect uniform with a similar black-and-red color palette – a nod to their NBA neighbors and a unified city vibe, as noted by NBC Sports Chicago.

As for the 2025-26 Bulls, they may not be replicating Jordan’s win totals. Vegas isn’t optimistic: BetMGM currently has Chicago with +50000 title odds, ranking them 22nd league-wide. The offseason didn’t bring any blockbuster moves, either – just the addition of defensive wing Isaac Okoro and first-round pick Noa Essengue.

Still, this jersey drop gives fans a reason to feel connected – to the team, to the city, and to a legacy that still casts a long shadow. Even if the wins don’t come right away, the style is undeniable.
