Gloria Hunniford suffers on set accident on Bake Off
Last night’s edition of the Great Celebrity Bake Off saw Gloria, Jim Howick, Ellie Goldstein and Jamali Maddix put their baking skills to the test. However, things took a turn when Gloria suffered an accident during filming.
Gloria’s hospital dash happened shortly before the end of the show, as the contestants finished their showstopper bakes and showed them to the judges.
For the showstopper, the celebs were tasked with creating a cake that would unveil a deeply held personal secret. Gloria opted to pay homage to her father, who was part of the Magic Circle.
The Loose Women star made a ‘magician’s cake’, which was in the shape of a dice, with playing cards surrounding it.

However, before the judges gave their verdict on the cakes, Alison Hammond made a big announcement.
“Now before we start the judging we should mention the fact that Gloria is not here. She is not feeling very well but she wanted us to continue anyway,” she said, not revealing what was wrong with Gloria.
Noel Fielding then stepped in as Gloria to listen to the judges’ verdict. Taking on the role of Gloria, Noel explained that when Gloria was little her “dad would make things disappear”.
“This a nod to my dad,” he said, fully in the role of the Loose Women stalwart.
“I like the concept, the concept has been executed really well,” Paul Hollywood said of the cake.

Gloria addresses illness on Bake Off
Taking to Instagram, the official Bake Off account posted a video of Gloria speaking to camera.
“A message from Gloria Hunniford OBE to all of you,” the post was captioned.
“I just want to say how much I really enjoyed being on Bake Off,” Gloria said in the video. “It was fun. It was interesting meeting Paul. In actual fact, I didn’t get a handshake from him, but he did like my brandy snaps.
“It was a great experience. Not having baked before, that actually taught me quite a lot,” she then said.
Gloria then opened up on her hospital trip. “It was a real shame that I missed being there for the showstopper, because unfortunately, I had a fall and I ended up in hospital for some screening, but I was fine,” she said.
She then went on to say that she is a “great, great supporter” of the programme and of Stand Up To Cancer, after losing her daughter Caron Keating to the disease.
“You were wonderful….your dad would be very proud of your magician’s cake I’m sure,” Ruth Langsford commented on the video.
“So glad you’re okay Gloria. It was a joy watching you in the tent,” another fan said.
“Gloria was so lovely. Really enjoyed watching her,” a third wrote.
