WATCH: CNN Host Has Raging Meltdown After Getting Caught in Lie, Called Out to Her Face

In an explosive moment on a CNN panel, conservative guest Scott Jennings shielded Elon Musk from vicious accusations made by far-left host Abby Phillip. The heated exchange began when Jennings pushed back against the panel’s assertion that Musk was engaging in potential corruption via the Department of Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) oversight of federal agencies like the FAA.

For context, Jennings is the lone conservative voice on CNN’s “NewsNight” program, which otherwise features an entirely leftist panel. On a February 25 airing, Phillips made baseless allegations about Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX and Tesla, claiming that his oversight role gave him an opportunity to reap unjust profits.

Such was shown when the show’s host, Abby Phillip, cast aspersions on Musk’s morals and ethics, insinuating that he had enriched himself by awarding his companies government grants. She said, “How do you know that he’s not making the grant decisions? I mean, they’ve said he’s over at the FAA, saying he’s got his hands and everything in the government, and his company gets a contract. That’s a clear conflict, and literally, what’s happening.”

After her baseless slander of Mr. Musk, Jennings fired back at Phillips. Defending Mr. Musk from the biased panel, he said, “You two are alleging that he is in a government office, personally writing grants to himself. I think that is a major allegation if you’re prepared to make it go ahead.”

Backtracking from her outrageous claim, Phillip gaslighted Jennings and, claiming he was pushing “wild allegation[s]” to smear her. She said, “Scott, this wild ‘allegation’ talk – that’s not warranted. Ethics laws exist. They apply to everyone. Elon doesn’t have to write the check for himself… his presence is a problem. It’s not an allegation.”

Jennings fired back, aggressively defending the DOGE head and making a fool of Phillip as he did so. Questioning her assumptions and unfounded claims about federal contracting, he said, “Are you all saying the government should not be able to contract for private services? Just not the people you don’t like?”

Interjecting, Phillip jumped back in and doubled down on her claims that Elon was using DOGE to aid his companies. She said, “The Secretary of Transportation literally invited him into the FAA to oversee the thing that his company is now profiting from. Those are all facts that are out there.”

Calling out Phillips, Jennings snapped back that Elon wasn’t even overseeing the FAA, as President Trump has noted. He said, “Musk is not overseeing the FAA. There’s a Transportation [secretary]… are you alleging he’s overseeing the FAA?” Phillip was left flabbergasted without a counterpoint, she deflected and moved on from the conversation.
