As the owners of a magnificent lakeside villa worth an estimated $100m, who can blame George and Amal Clooney for wanting to show it off to their A-list guests?
George, 64, Amal, 47, and their eight-year-old twins Ella and Alexander joined a mixed group of friends including Happy Gilmore star Adam Sandler on Lake Como, departing the Clooney’s majestic Villa Oleandra by motorboat and popping a few miles down the lakeside for a lively lunch at the exclusive Villa d’Este.
Others in the party included multiple Oscar-nominated Barbie director Greta Gerwig and her husband, director Noah Baumbach, as well as Oscar-winning actors Jim Broadbent and Laura Dern.
Also onboard were American actors Billy Crudup, Grace Edwards and Patrick Wilson.
Representing the younger ‘nepo set’, actress Eve Hewson, daughter of U2 singer Bono, was also aboard, along with Elvis’s granddaughter Riley Keough.
The only one who could possibly claim to be ‘local’ was Italian-German actress Alba Rohrwacher.
After their stay at the villa, the Clooneys and many of their guests are expected to head east to the Venice Film Festival which begins later this week.
Stories keep appearing claiming that the Clooneys are planning to sell Villa Oleander, but they always seem to hang onto it.

Clooney only paid €10m for the house when he bought it from the Heinz family in 2002.
It was also reported that the filmmaker’s presence on Lake Como set off a real estate boom, prompting prices of properties in the area to double.
The home, which boasts 25 rooms, was estimated at over $100 million in 2022, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Lake Como has sentimental value to the Hollywood heartthrob as he met prominent human rights lawyer Amal there in 2013 when she came over for a dinner party with mutual friends.
In a September 2017 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor recalled, ‘I thought she was beautiful, and I thought she was funny and obviously smart.’
The home has seen its share of entertainment industry A-listers.
In 2004, the entire cast of Ocean’s Twelve was treated to a visit at the villa.

Emily Blunt and John Krasinski tied the knot there in 2010, with Krasinski explaining to Elle six years later how it came to be.
The Boston-born actor revealed that George offered the home to the couple multiple times.
‘Only on the fourth ask did I say yes. Because the first three times I thought, there’s no way he is serious,’ he explained.
2018 saw Jennifer Aniston briefly make the space her home while she worked on the comedy film Murder Mystery.
And Clooney was there to support the area four years ago when it was battered by heavy rain and landslides during the summer season.
After assessing the damage, George said in a video shared online, ‘It’s much worse than I thought.
‘I have spoken to the mayor — there will be a lot of work, it will take millions of dollars, but this city is strong. It will react and return better than before. This is a very resilient city.’
Mayor Roberto Pozzi told the Sunday Times that Clooney ‘came straight to the town hall to see what had happened and we took a tour of the damage.’

Back in 2019, George raised funds with Omaze via a contest in which a couple could meet him and Amal at the villa.
Donations went to the Clooney Foundation for Justice and winners were treated to lunch with George and Amal, round-trip airfare and hotel accommodations.
In addition to the Lake Como house, the Clooneys — who share 8-year-old twins Ella and Alexander — have residences in France, Britain and Los Angeles.
