Following a massive earthquake off Russia’s eastern coast, sea life is starting to wash up along beaches.

A video shared on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, shows four whales beached on what was reported to be Hirasuna Beach in Chiba on Wednesday.
A powerful 8.8-magnitude earthquake off the coast of Russia on Wednesday triggered a tsunami in the coastal areas of the Kuril Islands and Japan’s large northern island of Hokkaido. According to the Associated Press, the quake is one of the strongest to ever be recorded.
Warnings have also been issued for California, Alaska, and Hawaii.
Japan Meteorological Agency reported that a tsunami as high as 50 centimeters struck Ishinomaki port, marking the highest wave recorded so far.

The aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake magnitude 9.0, that struck off the Pacific coast of Japan on March 11, 2011, triggering a tsunami. It was the strongest earthquake ever recorded in Japan and killed more than 20,000 people.
After the powerful earthquake, a tsunami warning was issued in Hawaii and parts of the Pacific.
Videos are being circulated on social media alleging that there have been massive traffic jams across Hawaii, with people saying that Oprah was refusing to open her private road and help people evacuate.
A user on X wrote, “Oprah won’t open her private road from Wailea to Kula, Hawaii, which would make it much easier for locals to get to higher ground. Massive Traffic in Maui with thousands trying to escape the massive Tsunami coming. Open the road Oprah”.
On Wednesday, Winfrey opened her private road in Maui, Hawaii, amid tsunami warnings.
