This Morning viewers had a lot of complaints about Monday’s interview with new MasterChef presenter Grace Dent.

In December it was revealed that the restaurant critic, 51, would replace Gregg as a judge on the much-loved BBC cooking show.

It comes after Gregg stepped down from his role in November when a number of historical allegations were made about him.

On Monday’s instalment of the ITV talk show, Grace appeared on the sofa with Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard to talk about her new gig.

During the chat, the trio didn’t mention Gregg at all, ruffling viewers’ feathers.

One pointed out on X: ‘Interested to see if they’re going to do this whole segment without addressing the elephant (not) in the room.’

They later fumed: ‘What a truly jaw-droppingly ‘nothing’ interview. It’s like once they realised they couldn’t discuss Gregg Wallace there was f**k-all to talk about.’

While others took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on the new judge, as well as the show in general.

Another said: ‘#masterchefuk has had it’s day. Getting a new judge is OK, BUT if they want to survive they need to change to the Australian format, current format is past it’s “use by date”.’

A fourth brutally tweeted: ‘Grace Dent seems very stuck up her own a***, think she’ll ruin masterchef.’

A fifth added: ‘I find her equally as irritating as her predecessor.’

A sixth shared: ‘I like Grace Dent but still think the full-time role should’ve gone to Jay Rayner.’

However others couldn’t contain their excitement back when the news was revealed on Instagram.

One said: ‘I adore you Grace so while I’m actually quite sad that Gregg has gone they couldn’t have chosen a better person to take his place.’

Many viewers took to X to share their thoughts on the new judge

‘Great news, love Grace’s podcast,’ another wrote.

A third confessed: ‘This is genius!x I actually can’t wait!’

A fourth added: ‘Excellent choice.’

Speaking about her upcoming role on the show, Grace previously said: ‘I’ve been watching MasterChef since I was a girl sitting with my dad on the sofa.

‘My whole family watches it.

‘It’s all about uncovering and championing talent – and to have ended up in this position, is more than a dream to me.

‘I’m so excited that I can’t eat, which is severely detrimental to a restaurant critic.

‘I feel very lucky to be stepping in for the next Celebrity MasterChef.

I’m A Celebrity star Grace has appeared on MasterChef as a guest critic.

Not only that, she has also competed as a contestant on MasterChef: Battle Of The Critics.

Speaking to Luxury London Living Fabric about her career with food, Grace said: ‘When I was a child in Carlisle in the ’70s and ’80s, we would put on The Good Food Show and we would see Jilly Goolden swooshing wine around her mouth and saying that it tasted like babbling brooks.

‘I think that what makes me different as a restaurant critic is that I certainly didn’t eat those types of food as a child.

‘I didn’t have that background.

‘If you look at me and then look at the other restaurant critics, who I love very much, one of us is not like the others!

‘I always say that it is an absolute fluke that I am in, doing what I do.’
