British reality TV star Sam Thompson has revealed the disastrous moment he swore directly at King Charles.
I’m A Celebrity winner and Made In Chelsea star Sam opened up about his experience meeting King Charles, 76, at the King’s Trust Awards. But it seems things didn’t go smoothly at all.
A few weeks ago, King Charles welcomed a host of famous faces to Buckingham Palace to take part in his King’s Trust Awards, including Sophie and Jamie Laing, who broke the rules.
While meeting the king is quite a big deal, sometimes it looks like panic sets in and gets in the way, like it did for Sam.

Sam Thompson swore at King Charles
Speaking on his podcast, Staying Relevant, with best pal and fellow reality star Pete Wicks, Sam explained how everything went so wrong for him.
Sam said: “I was late to the palace, which was really bad. And I forgot my ticket, so I had to find one of the guardsmen. I said ‘I’m here to meet King Charles.’ He thought I was a freak, but eventually I got in.”
Turns out, he arrived just in time as he was next to shake King Charles’ hand.
Sam explained: “They just shuffled me in right next to the person who was already talking to the king. I hadn’t had time to acclimatise at all.”
As for what exactly happened when King Charles walked over to Sam, that’s where things went completely wrong.
He was laughing by the end of it. He was actually a really nice guy.
“He comes up and shakes my hand. And I went, ‘You alright, mate?’. He was cool [about it], his aide behind him looked a bit like ‘oh [bleep].’ So when I saw his aide’s face, I went, ‘Oh [bleep].’
“So, then I swore at him. To be fair, he smiled. Then I went, ‘Sir’, but then I went, ‘Gosh you’re not even a sir, Your Majesty.’ I literally went from mate, swearing, sir to Your Majesty.”
But it seems King Charles appeared to appreciate the humour and instead of getting annoyed at the slip-up, found it quite humorous.
Sam explained: “He was laughing by the end of it. He was actually a really nice guy. I feel like we bonded.”

Sam and Charles’ meeting continued to get worse
However, it seems that wasn’t the only blunder Sam had when he was faced with King Charles, as the king assumed Sam was more involved with the charity.
Sam said: “Obviously, we’re there for the King’s Trust. And he had just spoken to the really lovely kid I was giving an award to, Taylor. Then, Dynamo, who worked with King’s Trust prior to him being a magician. So they were all talking about the King’s Trust as I walked in.
“The king goes, ‘So, what are you doing?’ And I didn’t know really what he meant, so I just went, ‘What, in life?’.
“He goes, ‘No, for the King’s Trust.’”
After Sam finished recounting his meeting, Pete just had one question. What were King Charles’ fingers like in real life?
Sam confirmed his hands are “massive” but surprisingly “really soft”.
