With the rumor mill spinning as New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers considers his future, a player on one of the teams linked with him doesn’t seem interested in having the 41-year-old as a teammate.
Rumors suggest that a separation from the Jets is in order for Rodgers after a lackluster season in 2024 that severely missed the mark on expectations.
As a result, multiple rumors have popped up about teams that may be interested in the services of the former MVP.
But a player on one of those teams – the Pittsburgh Steelers – seemed to indicate that he didn’t want Rodgers as a teammate.
A comment left under an Instagram post suggesting that the Steelers could be interested in Rodgers, Steelers safety DeShon Elliott commented, ‘Leave his a** at the retirement home.’
Rodgers struggled last season – his first full healthy season with the Jets.

The Steelers used both Justin Fields (L) and Russell Wilson (R) at quarterback in 2024
He finished eighth in the league in passing yards, but only managed 28 passing touchdowns and eleven interceptions as the Jets managed a record of 5-12.
With uncertainty in his future – and regime change at Florham Park – the Jets could look to move on from the ageing Rodgers.
Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz reported on Sunday that the team had all but moved on from the Super Bowl-winning quarterback. And Schultz wasn’t the only one to report on Rodgers’ imminent departure. Fox’s Jay Glazer later added that Rodgers flew back to New Jersey last week to meet with the team, only to be told they plan to move forward without him.
If Gang Green decides to move on from Rodgers by cutting him, he’d still count for $49million in dead cap space – which would restrict new Jets GM Darren Mougey’s spending power in free agency.
Pittsburgh is open as an option after they experienced uncertainty at the quarterback position all year long.
The Steelers relied on both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields at different points last season.
But neither seemed to make the impact that Pittsburgh truly wanted. While the Steelers made the playoffs, they were eliminated early.
