D0nald Trump is catching heat for getting a Patrick Mahomes factoid completely wrong and then compounding it with a blatant lie.
Trump, now in his second term as United States President, signed an order banning transgenders from participating in women’s sports on Wednesday and would make a speech thereafter.
While speaking, the POTUS pointed out United States Senator Tommy Tuberville in the crowd and mentioned the latter’s time as a college football head coach.
“… And Tommy Tuberville, a great coach. You know, his quarterback was named Mahomes, he was a great college coach,” Trump said.
Trump’s recollection of Tuberville’s time at Texas Tech can’t be accurate, as he left two years before Mahomes even got to the university, taking a job at Cincinnati.
D0nald Trump Made It Worse With False Claims
Kliff Kingsbury was actually the head coach under whom Mahomes played for the Red Raiders before going to star in the NFL, but Trump also recalled a conversation he had with Tuberville about the Kansas City Chiefs star.

He added:
“And I said, ‘How good was he?’ (Tuberville) said, ‘You don’t want to know how good … he made me into a great coach.’ He’s a pretty good quarterback, right? Yeah, he was very good, and he’s a good guy too.”
It’s safe to assume that no such conversation ever took place because Tuberville never coached Patrick Mahomes, but this will soon be water under the bridge.
Meanwhile, Trump is looking to become the first sitting U.S. president to attend a Super Bowl, as he has plans to be in New Orleans for the game on Sunday.

USA Today writer Mike Freeman had quite a lot to say on President D0nald Trump’s decision to attend Super Bowl 59.
Trump is set to become the first sitting president to watch a Super Bowl in person. A White House official has disclosed that the returning POTUS will be at the Caesars Superdome when the Philadelphia Eagles play the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.
Freeman has let everyone know exactly how he feels about the 78-year-old being there, declaring “Trump soils everything” while claiming his presence will taint the entire affair.
“Trump soils everything. Now, he’s doing the same to the biggest game of the year,” he wrote.
The longtime editor mentioned Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts’ noting that he won’t take the moment lightly, given that two black quarterbacks will be starting in the game. He added, “It’s the kind of thoughtfulness we’ve come to expect from him; that kind of depth Trump doesn’t possess.”
Freeman also suggested that it’s no coincidence that the “End Racism” signage won’t be in the back of the end zones in the Super Bowl for the first time since 2021.

“The fact the league made this move at the same time Trump is attending the game could be the greatest coincidence of all time. It looks…weird.
“(Just for the record: racism isn’t over. Will check my sources but pretty sure that’s accurate.)”
Mike Freeman Thinks D0nald Trump Wants To Be The Center Of Attention
Brian McCarthy, a spokesperson for the NFL, has denied that Trump had something to do with the change, recalling that the Chiefs had “Choose Love” in their end zone for the AFC Championship Game while the Eagles stuck with “End Racism.”
According to Freeman, presidents don’t typically attend the Super Bowl because they want the fans to focus on the game and not them. Trump, on the other hand, is said to crave the attention and wants to “show dominance over a league that once rejected him.”
He also cited the major security risk Trump’s attendance could pose.
Of course, we’re all hoping that the event is incident-free after what has been a horrible start to the year for Americans.
