Host Bradley Walsh asked the awesome foursome: ‘The term carjack is a blend of car and what other word?’ to which George (pictured above) got the answer wrong
But Bradley made it clear that wasn’t the correct answer and replied: ‘Hijack!’
This meant that the team lost a point and the klaxon went just moments after, meaning that the game was over.
At the end of the game, Bradley said: ‘Bad luck with hijacked! You needed hijack.’
Those watching at home were reeling over how harsh Bradley had been with George’s answer.
One wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: ‘Hijacked instead of hijack? Get to f* #TheChase.’
‘bradley wasted so much time there with the kroen he shuda just went wrong and carried on like he did with hijack.’
‘Hijack – that was harsh!!’
Despite that, the presenter described their efforts as ‘not bad at all’.

But they didn’t do enough to beat The Menance.
Bradley told them: ‘I know it’s tough to take, but I hope that you’ve enjoyed your day.
‘I have to take away the £48,000 and finally tell you that George, Ailsa, Sarah and Gary, you have been caught and The Chase is over.’
Darragh added: ‘This is a game of an extremely fine margins.
‘You did almost everything right.
‘You took all the right offers. You did very well in your Cash Builders, you needed to be a quarter of a second faster on each question, and then there’s 21 there, couple of pushbacks and I’m toast.’
Bradley added: ‘Absolutely. And that’s the way it goes. Even a full house couldn’t take down The Menance today.
‘He catches my team with 13 seconds remaining and £48,000 turns into dust.’

Those watching at home were reeling over how harsh Bradley had been with George’s answer – with one calling it ‘harsh’
It comes after Fans of The Chase raged ‘ITV should be ashamed’ after a ‘fixed’ final round and fumed ‘these questions are a joke’.
Tuesday’s instalment of the popular quiz show, hosted by Bradley Walsh, saw Toby, Becca, Sophia and Neil attempt to take on on Chaser Jenny Ryan, known as the Vixen.
Questions like ‘Lashana Lynch plays an MI6 agent in what Bond film?’ and ‘Pat Rafter Arena is a Brisbane stadium court for what sport?’ were asked of the players and tripped them up at times.
While Jenny’s questions included ‘A clumsy person is said to be like a bull in a what?’ and ‘The term ‘spousage’ refers to the state of being what?’.
Many viewers felt the team’s questions were difficult and some suggested a few of Jenny’s were ‘easy’.
