Royal enthusiasts may witness the Prince Harry and King Charles reunite this summer.
Harry is said to be planning to extend an invitation to his father, King Charles, to officially open the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
Speaking on GB News, presenters Stephen Dixon and Anne Diamond discussed the development with Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams, who described Prince Harry’s gesture towards King Charles as a “huge step to reconciliation”.
Yet the potential reunion may not sit well with Prince William, who is understood to remain estranged from his younger sibling.
Established by Harry in 2014, the Invictus Games is an international sporting competition honouring wounded, injured and sick service personnel.
According to The Sun, insiders suggest both the King and the Duke of Sussex are eager to mend their relationship, with next summer’s Games presenting an “appropriate” opportunity given Charles’s role as Head of the Armed Forces, reports the Express.
Fitzwilliams remarked to viewers: “This is Harry for once, using a very, very significant opportunity in a very positive way,”.
He continued: “Invictus founded in 2014 by Harry is a very significant military charity. Therefore you could argue that it’s part of the king’s duty and perhaps we then have reconciliation if this happens.”
The commentator also posed further questions, asking: “You could also ask who else will be there? Will Meghan be there? If not, why not?” He went on to say: “It’s a major dilemma as far as the king is concerned. I’m sure he won’t do anything without consulting Prince William first and we know he might have strong views about this.”
In addition, there’s the upcoming court case involving Harry and Associated Newspapers. The king will certainly want to steer clear of any involvement in that.
And then there’s the security review which is likely to grant Harry what he’s been seeking.

In related news, it’s reported that Harry may bring his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, back to the UK if his personal security is assured, according to a Royal correspondent.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s children haven’t been seen in the UK since 2022, having only met King Charles a few times in their young lives.
