Prince Harry is already receiving a form of taxpayer-funded security, according to GB News’ royal correspondent Cameron Walker. The Duke of Sussex made his first public appearance since moving back to the UK last night (September 17), arriving at the Invictus Spirit Awards at the Old Royal Naval College without his wife Meghan Markle.
Walker alleged that Metropolitan Police surrounded the building for the event, explaining live on the show: “He arrived at the inaugural Invictus Spirit Awards, which raised £1.6million last night to help wounded veterans and those still serving with their recovery. Two things I noticed from it – he was of course asked about Earl Spencer’s book. A journalist to my left asked him about it, he didn’t say anything, he moved on.
“One thing [I noticed] was that uniformed Metropolitan Police officers were guarding the barrier where members of the public had gathered.

“They also then, when he was inside the building for the awards all evening, kind of surrounded the building and were basically patrolling outside.
“Of course, that’s different to what Harry wants, which is armed police close protection, but uniformed coppers were clearly being funded by the Metropolitan Police to guard the building and to help out his privately funded personal protection bodyguards, who don’t carry firearms and neither did the Metropolitan Police officers on site.”

He added: “The second thing I wanted to point out was the fact that there were Irish Guards there, and other regiments of the British Army, the Household Division, there to greet him. One of whom saluted him as he passed and did a line-up with all of these soldiers.
“If you’d been in a coma for six years, you’d think he was still a working member of the Royal Family, even though he isn’t!
“Twitter, as you can probably imagine, is raging because the Princess of Wales is the colonel of the Irish Guards, not Prince Harry.”
