SAD NEWS: Coronation Street icon d!es after Alzheimer’s battle- “Rest in peace she was great.”

Beloved actress Stephanie Cole, who starred in Coronation Street, Tenko and Doc Martin, has sadly died at the age of 84. Her agent confirmed the sad news on Friday (September 18). In a statement released today, her agent John Grant confirmed: “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stephanie Cole, OBE.
“She passed away this morning at the age of 84. Stephanie had been living with Alzheimer’s disease for some years. Stephanie was an extraordinary talent whose long and distinguished career included many iconic performances in theatre and television.
“She brought joy to millions through her many much-loved roles in sitcom and drama. She will also be remembered for her tireless work supporting mental health charities.

“During this incredibly difficult time, the family kindly requests privacy.”
Stephanie played Roy Cropper’s mother Sylvia Goodwin in Coronation Street from 2011 until 2013, and Joan Norton in Doc Martin between 2004 and 2009. Her role as Dr Beatrice Mason in Tenko will forever be remembered as iconic. She was also known for starring alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in BBC radio sitcom Cabin Pressure.
Tributes have flooded in from fans, with one writing on Facebook: “Aww bless, liked her she was a fab actress RIP.”

And a third said: “Oh Stephanie Cole has passed. An absolute joy in all her roles. RIP.”
One X user tweeted: “Now Stephanie Cole has left us too. Please can someone wrap the rest of the cast and all our national treasures in bubble wrap.”
