BREAKING NEWS: Harry and Meghan just made a huge decision – you’ve got to feel for Archie and Lilibet

Express reporter Adam Toms feels for the Sussexes’ two young children as they endure big changes.

Harry and Meghan have been forced to make a major change just 20 days after arriving back in the UK.

“Security concerns” have meant that the couple has had to move Archie and Lilibet to a different school, with a spokesperson for the Sussexes saying the decision “was taken following a discussion with the family’s security team about the practicalities of their current arrangements”.

It has been reported that there was heavy traffic during the family’s school run, and the distance from Harry and Meghan’s new home put pressure on the Sussexes’ security team.

Moreover, an incident is believed to have happened, which involved the couple’s convoy of vehicles being disrupted. We are not reporting where they are living for privacy reasons.

Every parent worth their salt wants the best for their children, and that must include a good education.

At the moment, Archie and Lilibet’s is being disrupted, and at a very important age as regards their development.

Harry and Meghan moved to Canada in 2020 with Archie when he was just under a year old, presumably envisaging that he would be raised there.

But they moved to the United States about two months afterwards, and now they have returned to where they started six years later.

I am not a parent and so do not want to say too much, but surely children are better off staying in the same place and going to the same school with the same teachers and fellow pupils, with whom they can forge friendships?

My parents’ jobs were such that we did not have to move house and I no doubt benefited from the consistency.

Others turn out just fine as adults after living more mobile lifestyles when they were young, but it must be hard.

Harry and Meghan, for reasons we don’t quite understand yet (we may never find out), decided to move back to the UK, uprooting their children from their young lives in California.

And now they have been forced to go to yet another school.

Let’s hope the Sussexes moved because they genuinely thought living in Blighty would be better for their family, and not because it is a last resort having failed to carve out the existence they wanted in America.

Because, even though Archie and Lilibet are obviously very privileged children, this sort of disruption cannot be healthy.
