BREAKING NEWS: Prince Harry just showed himself up — Prince William would wipe the floor with him

Express reporter Adam Toms believes the Prince of Wales would have coped better with a tech issue during Harry’s speech.

Public speaking is some people’s worst nightmare. When on a stage addressing a crowd of people, the worst thing that could happen is being stuck for what to say — cue awkward silence. This is exactly what happened to Prince Harry in New York yesterday as he made a speech about AI. The autocue appeared to malfunction, leaving the prince standing there like a lemon holding the microphone.

He clearly could not think for himself of anything he wanted to say on the subject and was relying on the pre-prepared lines, which I reckon were most likely written by someone else. Instead, he eventually said “and that’s it”, triggering a laugh from the audience, before walking off to exit music. Harry was talking about AI and the dangers he believes young people face.

This is an important topic, but why on Earth would one want to hear what Prince Harry has to say on the subject, as opposed to a child safety expert and/or a tech specialist?

But I digress.

I bet Prince William would have wiped the floor with Harry and carried on speaking, despite the technical fault.

The Prince of Wales seems to genuinely care and is knowledgeable about the causes he advocates, whether it is climate change, mental health or homelessness, meaning he would have plenty to say without a pre-prepared speech.

Besides, it is only sensible, of course, to make sure a speaker has something in mind that they could resort to in the event of an autocue ceasing to function.

It’s just good comms contingency planning.

To sidetrack once more, yesterday’s attempt at a speech by Harry suggests that he has no plans to blend into the background while living in the UK.

He clearly wants to continue this pseudo-working royal role he seems to be aiming to carry out.

This will pose a problem as the genuine members of the Firm continue to do important things actually on behalf of the royal family.
