Prince William has been handed a stark warning over Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reported plans to return to Britain, with a royal expert claiming the move could create an explosive new fault line between the future King and his father, King Charles.
The Sussexes’ decision to spend an extended period in the UK has already raised major questions about how the fractured Royal Family will deal with Harry’s presence.
But according to royal commentator Tom Sykes, the biggest challenge may now fall directly on William.
Speaking to Page Six, Sykes warned that Harry’s return could place the Prince of Wales in an increasingly impossible position, particularly if King Charles decides to welcome his younger son back into royal family events.
“It’s going to represent huge challenges for William,” Sykes said.

The expert argued that William will eventually have to decide how he intends to respond to his brother’s renewed presence in Britain.
“William is gonna have to figure out how he is going to respond to this,” he added, warning that it may not be “sustainable” for the future King to continue refusing to see or speak to Harry.
The comments come amid reports that the brothers remain deeply estranged.
For years, Harry and William have struggled to repair their relationship, with the Duke of Sussex publicly discussing their family tensions and revealing deeply personal details about their relationship.
But Harry living thousands of miles away in California has arguably made it easier for William to keep his distance.
That could change dramatically if the Sussexes begin spending substantially more time in Britain.
Sykes raised a series of explosive questions about what could happen when major royal occasions arrive.
“What is going to happen if Charles invites Harry to join the royal family for Christmas?” he asked.

“And what is going to happen if Harry wants to attend the Remembrance Day celebrations?”
The expert then suggested an even more uncomfortable scenario for William.
“What is going to happen if his father endorses Harry by appearing in public shoulder to shoulder with him?”
“It’s a huge succession of challenges for William,” Sykes warned.
The potential conflict becomes even more complicated because Harry could reportedly seek his father’s support for the Invictus Games 2027.
The international sporting event, founded by Harry for wounded, injured and sick military personnel, remains one of his most important public causes.
If Charles were to publicly support Harry’s work, William could find himself under increasing pressure to decide whether maintaining his distance from his brother is still politically and practically possible.
According to reports, King Charles only learned about Harry and Meghan’s plans to move back to Britain shortly before the news became public.
That revelation has added another layer of tension.
While Charles may see Harry’s return as an opportunity to rebuild family bridges, William is reportedly not planning to reconnect with his brother when the Sussexes return.
That leaves the future King facing a potentially brutal dilemma.
If he continues refusing contact, the royal family could appear increasingly divided in public.
But if he suddenly embraces Harry, critics may question whether years of hostility have simply been swept aside.
For William, Harry’s return therefore represents far more than a family reunion.
It could become a direct test of his authority, his relationship with Charles and, ultimately, how he intends to handle the Sussexes when he eventually becomes King.
