MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace is facing widespread backlash from MAGA and even some Democrats after her comments regarding President Donald Trump’s recognition of 13-year-old cancer survivor Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel as an honorary Secret Service agent.
During Trump’s joint address to Congress Tuesday, he honored Daniel, who has been battling brain cancer, by making him an honorary Secret Service agent.

Trump used his address from the House chamber to introduce DJ, dressed in a Houston police uniform and seated with his father in the gallery, as the newest member of the U.S. Secret Service.
The gesture was met with applause from Republican lawmakers and framed as a moment of encouragement for the young boy, who had always dreamed of becoming a police officer. Few Democrats clapped or stood during the recognition.

Speaking live on MSNBC, Wallace acknowledged Daniel’s resilience then shifted focus to Trump’s record. “I hope he’s alive for another 95 years and I hope he lives the life he wants to live,” she said, before adding, “I hope he never has to defend the United States Capitol against Donald Trump’s supporters, and if he does, I hope he isn’t one of the six who loses his life to suicide.”
Her remarks quickly drew criticism, with many accusing her of using Daniel’s story to attack Trump. The comments ignited a firestorm from MAGA personalities.
“This is genuinely the most repulsive comment I’ve heard in a very long time from anyone on television,” wrote conservative activist Charlie Kirk on X (formerly Twitter), quoting an excerpt of Wallace’s comments.
