A contestant on The Voice UK left viewers in tears after an emotional moment. Aaren, 24, took to the stage as the final auditionee during Saturday’s episode (5 September). He was hoping to impress judges Kelly Rowland, will.i.am, Sir Tom Jones and duo Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.

Ahead of his performance, Aaren opened up about his family, and particularly his nan, who had recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. “She means the world to me,” he shared, explaining that he had moved in with her to look after and support her. After his performance, Aaren, who had impressed Kelly and Sir Tom enough for them both to turn around, invited his nan on stage with him, reports the Mirror.

He said: “My mum and nan are both crying.” He went on to explain that his nan was the reason behind his audition song choice, How Do I Say Goodbye.

“Nan is currently in remission and there was a period where we nearly lost her as a family, and she’s been my rock,” he said. His nan Kim also told Aaren on stage: “You look after me.” Asking his nan for advice on whose team to pick, Kim pointed at Kelly saying: “She’s beautiful,” before adding to Sir Tom: “And he’s handsome.” She then told Aaren: “It’s down to you.”

Aaren chose to go with Kelly, who told his nan: “It’s such a pleasure to meet you, and a blessing to meet a miracle.” “She’s my miracle, she really is,” Aaren said, leaving Kelly in tears.

Viewers were also in bits, with one writing: “#TheVoiceUK got me in tears over here.” Another said: “Oh stop it, I can’t stop sobbing.” A third echoed: “Omg I am in bits.”

Ahead of The Voice UK airing, Kelly shared her excitement at joining the series. She shared: “I am excited to join The Voice UK as a coach, and am looking forward to working with the excellent and passionate coaches the show is known for. I can’t wait to hear all the new talent and to go to battle for my team. Let’s go!”

The Destiny’s Child singer went on: “It feels like family… I feel like I’m ‘Brit-ish!’ The UK has adopted me and understands me to the point I’ve been on TV for over a decade. Every year I’m so honoured to be welcomed and understood… I love it.”

The emotional moment comes after a contestant made history on the show, after he became the first singer to be brought back after not receiving any turns from the coaches.
