Strictly Come Dancing’s Carlos Gu has been partnered with former professional footballer Karen Carney this year on the BBC show

This week, Strictly Come Dancing star Carlos Gu took a moment to praise his celebrity partner on the BBC show, Karen Carney.

On Saturday night, the duo performed a Cha-Cha-Cha for Movie Week and were given a score of 25 for their routine, placing them joint 10th on the leaderboard alongside Vicky Pattison.

However, one person who was missing from the show on the weekend was Stefan Dennis, who didn’t perform as he was ill. Although he has since issued a joint announcement with Dianne Buswell about his return.

With Ross King being the latest person to leave the competition, it looks as though many pros are taking a moment to reflect on their celebrity partner’s process on the show, including Carlos.

Sharing a series of images on social media from their time in the competition so far, Carlos had nothing but praise when speaking about his celebrity partner. In the lengthy caption, he wrote: “Can’t believe it’s been just 3 weeks, what a wild ride it’s been!

“From the unexpected Week 1 Jive, to our first-ever Ballroom Tango (with limited Spanish movement!) in Week 2, and then last week’s Miss Congeniality transformation for the Cha Cha Cha, every moment has been incredible.

“When I first met Karen, I honestly didn’t think of her as a dancer. But I knew she’d bring her amazing athletic strength and determination into this journey.”

The Strictly pro told his followers that Karen has surprised him every day and has shown immense growth from the start.

Admitting he’s ‘blown away’, Carlos went on to highlight his adoration for the sports star, adding: “She may not be a dancer, but what I admire most is how she throws herself into every routine with full heart and joy.

“I absolutely adore her, and I hope she inspires every kid out there to believe in themselves — to try new things, take risks, and never be afraid to fail. Because even if you don’t win, you’ll always find joy along the way.”

It wasn’t long before people commented on the sweet post, with many showing their support to Carlos and Karen, and one person finding his kind words emotional.
