UNACCEPTABLE: Prince Harry ‘prickled and bristled’ at Royal Family warnings over Meghan Markle
Prince Harry and Meghan have never experienced a “quiet time” in their relationship, a dynamic that fuelled the Duke of Sussex’s resentment toward his brother’s romance, according to a leading royal correspondent.
Speaking exclusively to GB News, Simon Vigar, the veteran Channel 5 royal correspondent who has reported on the monarchy since 1997, shared insights from his forthcoming book, “The Four Wives of Windsor: The Inside Story of the Power Behind the Crown”.
Mr Vigar explained that while Prince Harry and Meghan Markle managed to keep their relationship hidden briefly in its early stages, the public attention quickly escalated once the press learned of the romance.
He said: “They had a few months of peace when they were having that secret relationship and meeting up in London or Toronto or Africa, but they really haven’t had a quiet time.”
According to the journalist, the lack of a normal dating period became a significant point of frustration for the Duke of Sussex, particularly when contrasted with the Prince of Wales’s experiences.
Prince William met Catherine Middleton in 2001 while attending St Andrews University in Scotland, and the two were able to date with relative privacy for several years before formally confirming their relationship in 2004.
“That’s obviously part of Harry’s resentment, is that William had that vaguely normal relationship with university, which Harry never had, and he just prickled and bristled when people in his own family were telling him not to rush it,” Mr Vigar added.
During his conversation with the People’s Channel, Mr Vigar highlighted the personal advice Prince Harry received from relatives urging him to take his time, and the duke’s direct reaction to those warnings.

“I completely get that, ‘It’s all right for you to say that, you’ve got a wife and three kids!'” Mr Vigar claimed.
Mr Vigar also disclosed that years before meeting his wife, the duke had expressed deep concerns about his prospects for marriage and public life.
“He told me that they [the Royal Family] genuinely worried 10 years ago or so, ‘Would he ever find someone who really wanted to marry him with all the baggage that goes with him?'” Mr Vigar revealed.
“And then he found Meghan, and everything went into warp speed.”

The exclusive comments come ahead of the publication of Mr Vigar’s biography, set for release on July 30.
