Sally Nugent, known for presenting BBC Breakfast alongside Jon Kay, took to social media this week to share a special message with her followers following her Rob Burrow documentary losing out on an NTA.
The 54-year-old, who recently asked viewers a ‘dangerous’ question on-air, attended the National Television Awards this week as she was heavily involved in the making of the short film, There’s Only One Rob Burrow.
It told the powerful story of Rob Burrow, a rugby league legend and MND campaigner, shortly after he died at the age of 41 from the disease. It featured special chats with his wife, Lindsey, and his children alongside his parents, Irene and Geoff Burrow.
Rob’s best friend Kevin Sinfield also spoke to the BBC as part of the documentary, with it ending in a special message recorded by Rob to which he told people: “My final message to you is whatever your personal battle be brave and face it.”
The emotional documentary was nominated for an award in the Authored Documentary category, alongside the likes of Freddie Flintoff, Amy Dowden, Molly-Mae Hague and Boyzone.

In the end, it was Molly-Mae Hague who won the award, which was voted for by the public.
Sharing a few snapshots of the evening, Sally Nugent took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the documentary missing out on winning the award.
She wrote: “Thank you to everyone who voted for There’s Only One Rob Burrow at the @officialntas.
“It wasn’t our night. But we are all so proud of Rob’s gorgeous girls, who made it brilliant fun. And thank you @grainnefrawleymkup who performed miracles to get us red carpet ready.”
It wasn’t long before people commented on the post, with many praising the touching documentary.

One person said: “Still can’t believe the Burrows family didn’t win, such a powerful programme on a fantastic man and family.”
Another wrote: “As much as you didn’t win the award that doesn’t matter, the most important thing is that you made a wonderful documentary that got the attention the cause and family deserved, well done.”
While someone else shared: “You should have won last night, but you are winners already, a lovely family and inspirational too xxx”
During her acceptance speech, Molly paid tribute to Rob and shared a special message to his wife while on stage.

After acknowledging the other nominees, she said: “To Lindsay, Rob Burrow’s wife and his children, his story was far more inspirational than mine could ever be.
“It was just incredible and touched me in more ways than I can explain. This one’s for you Rob, and to the other inspirational people in this category.”
