Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no strangers to stirring up controversy among royal fans, and their latest UK visit has royal commentators accusing them of wanting the best of both worlds. The couple stepped down as working royals in 2020 and now live in California with their two children, Archie and Lilibet, and they have openly criticised the Royal Family since. However, they appear to be attempting to mend the fractured relationship they have with the Royal Family after their latest visit to the UK.
While Prince Harry spent a week in his home country to make several public appearances, Meghan followed him over for a shorter stay to attend a closed-door reunion with King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Royal insiders have been talking about the meeting ever since, and what it might mean for the couple’s future standing within the Royal Family. While the pair have worked hard to distance themselves from the firm in the past, certain moves have drawn criticism over the years since their royal departure.

One critic of the couple, TalkTV host Jeremy Kyle, criticised the couple for their behaviour towards the royals, including the continued use of their children’s royal titles. He argued that the couple are sending mixed messages over the years.
“It is complete hypocrisy by both of them,” he argued. “And again, a bit like politicians, do they not suss out that the British public, the silent majority, have an opinion of them that frankly isn’t going to change?”
Back in May, Meghan received criticism for using her children’s royal titles in As Ever product listings on her brand’s website in a Mother’s Day campaign.

Meanwhile, it was recently reported that Prince William could strip Archie and Lilibet of their royal titles when he becomes King.

Royal author Tom Bower, who recently released Betrayal: Power, Deceit And The Fight For The Future Of The Royal Family, claimed that Harry is realising that his own royal title, and that of his children, is “no longer invincible” after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his.
Bower writes: “The tremors of the unprecedented sanctions against Andrew must have shocked Harry. In public, he remained silent. In private, he realised that his own royal status was no longer invincible.
“The new King resisted the temptation to strip the couple of their titles and declare Harry an outcast. His mother would not have approved. But he did disinvite the Sussexes from a Buckingham Palace reception before the funeral for heads of state and their representatives, a thousand guests. ‘Only for working royals,’ Harry was told.”
