The Chase Around the World kicked off tonight and The Chasers suffered their first defeat in the ITV spin-off. Bradley Walsh fronts the new ITV game show, which looks to be a cross between gameshow The Chase and BBC’s Race Across The World.
The programme sees six pairs of contestants began the first stint in Rome, before racing across the city to the finish line. After being tasked with a series of puzzles and questions along their journey, they have to be accurate to progress to each checkpoint. The final team meet Bradley at the finish line where they went up against Chasers Mark Labbett and Anne Hegerty.

But just minutes into the programme viewers issued a similar complaint. One X user wrote: “This version of #TheChase is painful. @ITV in future please stick to tried, tested and very successful version of #TheChase. #ChaseAroundTheWorld.”
Another echoed: “Really not sure about this #ChaseAroundtheWorld.”
A third wrote: “Not sure about this #chasearoundtheworld programme. The attraction of #thechase or #beatthechasers is that you can play along at home. Whilst you can do that in this too there’s too much time in between questions and why would I wanna watch people running around Rome.”
“If you’re going to bother with this, record it and whizz through the adverts (and most of the cobblers).v#chasearoundtheworld #thechase,” another urged.
A fifth commented: “This race around the world is a very original idea for a TV programme – Sorry, I meant to say Chase around the world… #chasearoundtheworld.”
Others praised the new format of the spin-off programme.
