The redevelopment has provided the Braemar Mountain Rescue Association with additional facilities designed to support both training and emergency operations.
According to Buckingham Palace, the expansion includes improved training areas as well as more storage space for rescue equipment and vehicles.
A new base for Police Scotland has also been incorporated into the site.
The engagement carried a personal connection for Charles and the wider Royal Family.
His visit came 30 years after his father, the late Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, unveiled the centre’s previous major refurbishment.
The Palace highlighted that link as Charles returned to the site decades later to mark the latest stage in its development.
The visit also offered a glimpse of the King continuing with his official programme while the latest tensions surrounding his younger son generated headlines elsewhere.
