A senior royal expert told RadarOnline.com that Kate does not naturally project her voice across crowded rooms, which can make it difficult for people to hear her above the noise.

The difficulty is reportedly heightened by Kate’s approach to meeting members of the public.
Rather than exchanging a few quick words before moving immediately to the next guest, the Princess of Wales is said to prefer taking her time and listening carefully.
The source claimed Kate takes conversations “extremely seriously” and does not want anyone she meets to feel as though they have simply been processed as part of an official engagement.
Instead, her instinct is reportedly to stop, listen properly and give people her full attention.

According to another source, it has become something of a running joke among those working around Kate because she is regularly reminded to speak louder and can spend much longer talking to individual guests than originally planned.

The source said Kate has undergone training to help her manage public appearances but that, despite becoming increasingly confident, her natural personality remains relatively quiet.
“She still prefers to be quiet rather than loud,” the source claimed.

She admitted that crowded environments could be challenging because of the volume of noise around her.
“I find these environments are really hard,” Kate said.
She then acknowledged her naturally quiet speaking voice, adding: “I’ve also got a very soft voice, so I always get told, ‘Speak up a bit louder!’”
