BREAKING: Prince Harry gives telling verdict on England’s World Cup defeat

Prince Harry is one of the many England football fans that was hoping the team could bring it home this year. The Duke attended a glamorous TIME100 event in New York and shared his heartbreak at England being knocked out of the World Cup.
Harry, who attended the event without his wife Meghan Markle, was asked if he was sad after England lost in the semi-finals to Argentina. Page Six reports that the duke replied: “Of course!” The prince was in New York after being named as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Sports 2026 in the “leaders” category.

Prince William has also responded to the team’s loss. He posted on social media that he was “gutted” after the 2-1 loss.
He penned: “Gutted. England, you gave it everything and we are all so proud of you. Thank you to everyone on and off the pitch, for an incredible tournament. The fight and belief you have shown has inspired us all,” he continued. The most complete England team in a tournament. Hold your heads high.”
Prince William has kept up posts throughout the tournament.

When England secured their quarter-final spot, the Prince of Wales, a patron of the Football Association, wrote on X: “Well done England! Bring on the quarter final!”

Pressure was running high for the England squad in the second half of the semi-final in Atlanta
Anthony Gordon put England 1-0 ahead after 55 minutes and the team held the advantage until five minutes from time before Enzo Fernandez netted a long-range equalizer.
In injury time, Lautaro Martinez scored to secure Argentina’s place in Sunday’s final against Spain in New York.
The Three Lions were left defeated when Lionel Messi helped Argentina take the win with a late comeback. In 2022, Argentina defeated France to win the World Cup in Qatar.
The win marked the first and long-awaited World Cup victory for Messi, who has widely been regarded as one of the best football players in the world.
