Lindsey Russell has shared some very happy personal news, revealing that she and husband Fred Haig are expecting their first child together.

The 35-year-old presenter, who became a familiar face to millions during her years on Blue Peter and has since appeared on programmes including The One Show and This Morning, announced the pregnancy on social media on Sunday evening.

Rather than making a lengthy announcement, Lindsey chose a simple photo booth moment with Fred to share the news.

In an Instagram Reel, the couple could be seen sitting together and posing for a series of pictures while Lindsey held up their baby scans.

Across the video, she wrote: “our first photo booth as a three…”

Her caption was just as simple: “Mum and Dad.”

The post quickly attracted congratulatory messages from friends and familiar television names as Lindsey celebrated the beginning of a completely new chapter away from the cameras.

The announcement comes around a year after Lindsey and Fred tied the knot in Las Vegas.

Their latest milestone was revealed through a collection of playful photo booth pictures rather than a more traditional celebrity announcement.

With the scans clearly part of the photographs, the couple allowed the pictures to tell most of the story.

Messages soon began appearing underneath the post.

Amanda Holden was among those celebrating the news, writing: “It’s just incredible.”

Ashley Roberts, who also works at Heart and previously competed on Strictly Come Dancing, was similarly delighted, responding: “Yessssss!!!!!”

Kimberly Wyatt also joined the congratulations, writing: “WHAAAAATTTT!!!!! Aaaahhhh!!! Congratulations!! What gorgeous news!!!!”

Former Blue Peter presenter Katy Hill could barely contain her excitement either.

“Stop that!! OMG – this is sooooooo exciting! Xxxxx,” she wrote.

Oti Mabuse, who is currently expecting her second child, added: “Congratulations angel.”

For Lindsey, the pregnancy announcement comes during another busy period in a career that has taken her from children’s television to BBC daytime programming and radio.

Lindsey Shot To Fame After Winning Blue Peter Competition

Long before becoming a regular contributor to The One Show, Lindsey’s television career began in unusually dramatic fashion.

In 2013, she entered Blue Peter – You Decide, a BBC competition created to find the programme’s next presenter.

Around 20,000 people applied for the opportunity.

That number was gradually reduced until only 10 hopefuls remained, with the finalists facing a judging panel that included television presenters Eamonn Holmes and Myleene Klass.

Lindsey eventually emerged as the winner during a live show in Leeds, securing what would become the breakthrough role of her career.

The moment understandably left her overwhelmed.

“I feel amazing. Thank you for voting for me so much,” she said after winning.

She described Blue Peter as “the best job in the world”, explaining that the role offered the chance to experience things most people would never normally get to do.

“Right now it feels a little strange. I’m quite shaky,” she admitted at the time.

Lindsey went on to spend almost a decade associated with the famous children’s programme, becoming known to a generation of younger BBC viewers.

But leaving Blue Peter did not bring her broadcasting career to an end.

Instead, she gradually moved into a wider range of television and radio work.

Following her time on Blue Peter, Lindsey began appearing on The One Show, where she has worked on reports and contributed to the BBC One programme.

She has also created segments for Morning Live and appeared on This Morning.

More recently, radio has become another major part of her schedule.

Lindsey currently presents an early breakfast slot on Heart Radio from 4.30am until 6am, before Amanda Holden takes over.

Prior to that, she worked the station’s overnight weekend shift between 1am and 6am on Saturdays and Sundays.

The move into radio added another strand to a career that began with viewers literally voting for Lindsey to get her first major BBC presenting job.

Away from broadcasting, her personal life has also changed considerably over the past year.

Lindsey and Fred married in Las Vegas, and now the couple are preparing to welcome their first baby together.

Their pregnancy announcement did not reveal further details such as the baby’s expected arrival date or whether they know the gender.

Instead, Lindsey kept the focus firmly on the news itself — two parents-to-be sitting in a photo booth, holding their scans and marking what she called their first picture “as a three”.
