Actress and singer Shelley Fabares, who worked alongside Elvis Presley in three of his films, has sadly died at the age of 82. Shelley famously appeared alongside the Jailhouse Rock star in Girl Happy, Clambake and Spinout, as well as appearing on The Donna Reed Show, Coach and Mork & Mindy, alongside Robin Williams.
She was married to M*A*S*H* star Mike Farrell, who released a statement upon her death with the rest of Shelley’s family. It read, via People magazine: “To her family and friends, Shelley was a source of love, strength, laughter, and comfort. She was a devoted wife, cherished stepmother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, family member, and loyal friend whose warmth, generosity, humor, and grace made an enduring difference in the lives of everyone who knew her. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, valued, and cared for.”

The statement added: “We will miss her deeply — not only as a celebrated performer, but as the loving and extraordinary person she was in our everyday lives. We are heartbroken by her loss, yet profoundly grateful for the years we shared with her and for the joy, compassion, and love she brought to so many. We ask that our family’s privacy be respected as we grieve.
“We take comfort in knowing that Shelley’s work and the memories she created with those who loved her will continue to live on.”
She is survived by her husband and stepchildren, Michael and Erin.

No cause of death has yet been confirmed, though Shelley did undergo a liver transplant in 2000 after being diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis.

Tributes have flooded in from fans, with one writing on social media: “RIP Shelley Fabares. My thoughts are with Mike Farrell, and their family.”
Another echoed: “My mother was in LA 37 years ago. She was at a McDonald’s with a flat tire. A nice lady with two Happy Meals put her food down and changed my Mom’s tire. My Mom thanked her and went on her way. That nice lady was Shelley Fabares. Thanks again and RIP.”
And a third said: “So very sorry to hear of the passing of Shelley Fabares! We served on the SAG board together for years & she was the sweetest, most down-to-earth lady imaginable! Such a loss for our biz & for the world. My condolences to her husband, Mike Farrell & her friends & family!”
