Mike and Zara Tindall mark 15 years of marriage today, having exchanged vows at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh on July 30 2011.
The couple, now raising three children together, show no signs of the spark fading, with their regular public displays of affection suggesting they remain as close as ever.
A shared sense of humour, and common interests play their part, though Mike, 47, suggests his wife’s laid-back nature deserves considerable credit.
“I can’t believe she’s letting me play golf on her birthday — what a legend,” he told Hello at his charity golf event in Sutton Coldfield in May, which fell on Zara’s 45th birthday.

The pair first crossed paths in Sydney during the 2003 Rugby World Cup, when Mike was on tour with England and Zara was enjoying a gap year.
She passed her number to him through one of his teammates, leading to what Mike has described as “quite a boozy one” of a first date.
Long regarded as among the most relatable figures in the Royal Family, the Tindalls live on Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire, where glamour takes a back seat to rural reality.
“We have three dogs, three kids and horses, so there’s a lot of poo in my life. It’s a great leveller,” Mike told Hello.
The couple got married in July 2011.
Their respective careers at the pinnacle of professional sport have proved a crucial ingredient in the strength of their partnership.
Zara, an Olympic and World Champion in eventing, has spoken about how mutual understanding of competitive pressures formed the bedrock of their bond. “It actually started from becoming very good friends,” she once explained.
Mike echoed that sentiment in 2021, noting that both being elite athletes meant they instinctively grasped each other’s drive and ambitions. “It’s a bit cliché but you understand each other, what your motivations are. I think that’s why we gel,” he said.

Mike has spoken candidly about how navigating adversity strengthened their relationship rather than weakening it. “A marriage or long-term relationship can’t always be roses and rainbows,” he has said.
“There are things that are thrown at you that have to test both of you and that will test that relationship. The thing is no one is right, no one is wrong. You have to work through it together.”
Asked about the secret to their lasting marriage, Mike has kept it characteristically simple. “She’s always been my best friend — that doesn’t change,” he said.
“I don’t know if I’ve got any top tips. She’s always right, is that a top tip?”
